Chapter 16 by Akula Akula

Who do we pick up on next?

Sam's Out of The Loop.

The red haired woman yawned and stretched her arms out as she zipped her running hoodie off and walked back her kitchen. Her nose picked up the scent of meat and the skillet in the sink made her right eyebrow rise as she pulled the scrunchie out of her ponytail.

"Someone made breakfast?"

If the plate off to the side meant anything, it was definitely her brother. She grabbed the toasted English muffin that sat on it and quickly took a bite, deciding to hold it in her mouth with her teeth while her hands and fingers went scrolling through her phone.

It was the weirdest thing. Last night she could've sworn she saved the video of Jess's beat down of Kevin, but it was just, gone.

No news, no reposts, all the snarky comments just... gone. Overnight.

Poof.

That seemed nuts. Maybe someone had it taken down or it got flagged or something. In any case it was a lucky break for her friend. Most of the comments and photos of her party still online were pretty positive. A few of the people she knew who had been there basically were talking this morning how great it was like the fight never happened.

That'd be a welcome surprise for Jess she'd appreciate. That reminded Sam, she had to get Jess her clothes back from the dryer.

It didn't take long. The redhead folding her friends clothes all up, placing them under her arm. Then going upstairs and walking down the hall to the guest room.

"Jess?" she knocked.

Nothing. She tried knocking on it again.

"Hey girl, you up?"

Again. Nothing.

Third time she didn't bother and barged through the door, "Okay precious, get... up?"

She was figuring Jess would take a while to get out of bed after her party, but the blonde appeared to be gone without a trace. The sound of the door to Simon's room opening at least alerted to Sam that at least he was still home.

"Hey Simon have you seen..."

In the process of turning around to greet her brother, the young woman was instead greeted by a young blonde bombshell with her green eyes and face looking just as confused at her while eating the last little bit of bacon she had in her hand.

Sam felt relieved as Jess cocked an eyebrow, "What?"

"There you are," Sam declared to her friend while looking at her standing there... in her brother's bathrobe?

The sight of it her brought a snicker out of the red head as she walked over and handed the girl her clothes back, "Should I be concerned about you trying to seduce my brother? What were you doing in there?"

Jess face turned even redder at the insinuation than she suspected, and Simon's eyes widened as he retreated back into his bunker. Her friend's emerald eyes filled with panic and defensiveness as she began to protest the very thought.

"W-What! No! No way! Never! No! We were just talking! Th-That's it!"

A smug smirk was brought to Sam's face at seeing Jessica getting so flustered over it. Her friend now looked away from her resentfully at the accusation. She was making it too easy this morning. It was almost the same as her brother!

She leaned in, poking at her target in particular, "Oh, I don't know. Why are you wearing his bathrobe, hm?"

"H-He was just letting me borrow it when I got out of the shower! It's not like I asked him to make me breakfast," the blonde squinted her eyes and pouted, refusing to look at her still for any sort of acknowledgement.

Sam let out a fake gasp, beginning to talk in a sarcastic tone of voice, "Simon! You made her breakfast! What a little gentleman you are!"

A second later, she got his reply in the form of him yelling back in a similar tone of voice that Jess had, "Shut up, Mom!"

Ah, this morning's two-for-one special.

She let out a snort at her brother's answer, shook her head and returned her attention to the blonde friend who also now had the very expensive looking necklace around her neck that was definitely not there the night before.

Sam's eyes widened. She was impressed.

"Wow. Jess, nice bling," she announced while tilting her head trying to get a better look at her friend's new necklace.

That was definitely something for a rich socialite girl like her; especially for ones like Jess who loved getting attention. That was definitely not a cheap karat of gold. The same could've been said about that emerald centered smack dab on the front.

"Is that what your Mom's present was?"

The blonde took a moment to register her friends words with a sense of surprise. She didn't respond at first, instead cast her eyes down at her necklace and fidgeting with it. She seemed lost in her own head thinking about something.

Sam was getting impatient. Simon was enough to deal with.

She snapped her fingers in front of her face to get her attention.

"Uh, hello? Jess? Anyone at home?"

The blonde's head snapped up again, "S-Sorry! Um, yeah... Simon gave it back to me this morning. I kind of forgot I had it on there for a second!"

She stroked over her neck with a couple of her fingers focused on the emerald as she let out a laugh. She was smiling again, so that was a good first step. A definite sense of relief had washed over her since last night. She was having more of that pep in her step.

Also for Sam there was a definite feeling of pride in Simon doing everything right this morning: giving Jess her present back, making her breakfast, borrowing his robe, maybe he was doing right by her friend after all.

"Good job, bro."

But then Sam's eyes caught hold onto the other new item that Jess was wearing. This time on her wrist. Could that be?

The same teasing smirk the redheaded young woman had earlier now pressed its was back across her face.

Oh, she couldn't let that one slide, "Jess. Is that a rabbit bracelet?"

Almost immediately Jessica's insecurity and embarrassment began returning in ****, "Shut up, Sam! Don't."

"Does this mean my brother of all people has been responsible for our little Jessica Rabbit tradition all these years?"

The blonde's scowl and glare directed back into her brother's room made it clear as Jess began to growl and mumble out of the corner of her mouth as she clutched her present defensively, "Simon knows I like rabbits, okay? You and the others are the ones who made a big joke out of it."

Sam let out a chuckle as she began motioning to head back to her room to change out of her running clothes, "Yeah, but it's been a lot of fun all these years. Hey I need to get cleaned up, but it looks like I can take you back to your house once I'm done."

"Huh, really?"

"Yeah. It's weird," Sam held out her phone, "I thought I saved that video of you wailing Kevin last night? Turns out I didn't. Then I opened the link and tried to find it again, looks like it got taken down by someone, no post history, timeline or anything. Like it doesn't exist at all."

Jessica's eyes really went wide at that one, the nervousness from the previous night coming back in that moment, "N-No way... r-really?"

Sam nodded to her friend, "Yeah. No one else is posting about it either. It's all about how your party was dope. No complaints there. Only question is Kevin. Hey Simon!"

The sound of a chair sliding over to the door to his room brought him within his sister's vision after being called over, "What's up?"

"Are you gonna need a ride to the hospital to visit your friend?"

She watched as her brother whipped out his own phone from his pocket and checked his messages, "No! Kevin says he fell asleep at home last night! No plans. I was gonna take Jess home!"

Her jaw nearly dropped in disbelief, "You are going to take her home?"

Jessica crossed her arms uncomfortably, looking off to the side, "Yeah, um, Sam. I asked him to..."

Did the world turn on the wrong fucking axis when she went out for her run this morning? First the fight never happened, then Kevin's home according to her brother, now her best friend wants Simon to take her back to her house instead of her!

"Did my brother spike you with pills or something?"

Jessica shook her head and protested again, only this time she smiled about something, "No. We were just having a really good talk, and we didn't know when you would be back yet, so I just asked if he could."

Sam blinked, "Oh."

Still feeling surprised the redhead had to ask, "You were able to stand being in the same room as my brother for that long?"

Jess took a moment to understand the gravity of what she was saying and then rolled her eyes, "I mean barely, yeah. Did you know he used to play with us all the time?"

Again Sam looked surprised at her friend, "Uhhh, yeah."

She stopped and now felt her head tilting like her brother in disbelief, "Wait. You didn't?"

Jess began shaking her head, "Completely forgot about it until he showed me his albums. I didn't know he liked taking photos, either. I just thought he might've creeping on me with that camera."

Sam had to scoff and roll her eyes at that, "C'mon. He's been doing photos since middle school!"

Jess held her arms out, "Yeah! I had no idea."

Immediately she crossed her arms again uncomfortably glancing back at her brother's door as he looked at them both clearly not amused, "I can still hear you."

"Boundaries, Simon!" she scolded her brother.

He seemed to glance over and stare intently at Jess for a bit again as he always did, and then looked back over to her, "It's fine if you want to take her home, Sam. I can catch up with her again at some point."

Well that solved that problem, "Thanks little bro!"

"Hey! Older than you!" he snapped back reminding her of that fact every time she teased him.

She then looked at Jess and smiled, "I guess that's settled then. Although maybe I shouldn't be so hard on him."

Sam then poked at her bracelet, letting out an amused chuckle, "Don't you think so Jessica Rabbit? Hm?"

"Simon says bounce back to your room like you were the actual Jessica Rabbit, you clone."

Did she hear something? Oh well. Maybe it would be amusing to mess with Jess a bit more another way, the redhead thought. She stuck out her ass and found herself flipping her hair until it was covering her right eye, puckering her lips and blew her friend a kiss, rubbing her hands up the front of her leggings, then accentuating her walk forward, pushing her chest and breasts forward, bouncing her ass as she glided herself on her tip-toes and shut the door to her room.

She raised an eyebrow as she heard her friend maniacally cackling at something and yelling out her brother's name in the process. If something could make Jess laugh that hysterically she'd have to ask about it later.

Well things are starting to get back to normal for Jess, it seems...
