Chapter 7 by kronos204 kronos204

Good thing James' friends only barely believe the text, right?

The morning after

I wake up in the morning feeling... weird. I do a little self-evaluation. No, I don't have a hangover. That was something I was worried about. I think I feel weird emotionally? I'd committed some a sin of the flesh and it had felt _great_. Which is concerning. I know that sin is supposed to be tempting, but is it supposed to feel that harmless? I feel guilty regardless. I'll have to go to confession later.

For now, I open my phone. I see James on Facebook complaining about the test again. Mostly about having to take it on a Saturday, but a little that's pretty down on himself.

James: Saturday test YAY exactly how I want to spend my weekend. Failing a test

Misty: Gonna bomb it?

James: What do you think? Yeah I'm gonna bmob this stupid thig!

Jake: Get sum wingz after?

It went on like this for a bit, and didn't feel even a little bit supportive. Of course he's going to fail when everyone brings him down. I respond with "We were up studying, and you got it! Besides, I heard that Saturday tests are made easier because the teachers don't want to do any work on the weekends either." That last part was a total lie, but if it gives him some confidence, it can only help. I get up and meet my mom for breakfast. I find her wearing a nice pantsuit.

"Hey there, party girl! How are you feeling after your night of debauchery?" she mocks, good-naturedly. My cheeks go red, thinking she's talking about the other thing for a second. "Oh come on, it wasn't even a whole drink." She rolls her eyes at my blush.

"No, I'm okay Mom," I reassure her. I debate telling her about my sinning, but figure that's between me and God.

"Well okay then," she hands me a plate of eggs. "What're you up to today?"

"I think I'm going to stop by the cathedral. I have a little more cleaning to do, then study at home."

"Alright, say 'hi' to Father Liam for me. I have some shopping to do today, is there anything you need while I'm out?"

We continue on through breakfast, chatting mildly.

How are things at the church?
