Chapter 6 by wit1

Where do you lead Larry?

Corridor to the Right

You led Larry down the corridor to the right. It was a typical university corridor. It was about eight feet wide. The walls were cement blocks that have been painted off-white. The dropped ceiling had fluorescent lights about eight feet apart. It had doors on either side at regular intervals, about every eighteen feet. About halfway down were a pair of doors that led to the restrooms. At the far end, the corridor turned to the left with doors that led to the outside on the right.

Like most bureaucracies, the university labeled the rooms in a purely functional manner. It started with the first letter of the building’s name. That was followed by the floor number. In this case, a ‘1’. Finally, the rooms were numbered from 00 to 99.

From the sound of her footsteps, you assumed that Cindy came down this way. The question was where did she go. You doubted that Cindy came this way to use the bathroom. Most of the doors were open but every one of them was dark. The classroom that each of them lead to was obviously empty. Still, there were a couple doors that were closed. It was impossible to tell what lay behind each of them. She could also have turned down the corridor to the left. She could even have gone out the door. You played the sound of Cindy’s footsteps in your head again. It didn’t take you long to decide where they had gone.

Where do you go?
