Chapter 3 by GyldenGlor GyldenGlor

Inside the princess' room...

Getting acquainted

I have to stop for a moment to look around the room, slack-jawed in awe.

"Ugghhh! I can't believe she took my phone - I hate her!"

I absent-mindedly nod as I wander around - her room is a technological marvel, and beautiful.

On the far wall, there's a beautiful view of the city - it seems to go on for miles. There's so much foliage, and so little polution - I don't see a single smoke stack or anything!

On the wall to the left, there's a massive screen. A screensaver is idly playing - a beautiful landscape is shown, with a gentle stream and a small water mill. As I move, the angle of the image changes - it's almost like looking into a window!

On the right side of the room, there's a neatly made bed, complete with throw pillows and extra blankets. Something tells me Aisha did NOT make the bed herself.

Next to the bed, against the wall, is a desk that is in stark contrast to the neat cleanliness of the rest of the room. It's a cluttered mess - there's an open bag of what seem to be chips, a few empty bottles (maybe water bottles?), and a...shockingly clean mouse and keyboard.

The keyboard has symbols on it I don't particularly recognize, but somehow I understand them - it must be due to the way they made me fluent in their language.

Hanging from the wall next to the desk is what definitely looks like a VR headset. I wonder how many games she plays?

There are a slew of other things throughout the room that I just don't recognize. Something that looks almost like a 3D printer, but with dials on it like an etch-a-sketch; a table with an illuminated grid of blue lines just beneath the glass surface on one side of the room; a floating collection of shimmering metal over a disk on another desk...the list goes on.

My gaze returns to the bed, and I see Aisha sitting on it, staring at me with a wide grin. I can't help but smile back.

"Gosh, you're so cute, looking around like that..." I blush a little as she says that.

"This entire room is... amazing." I motion towards the large screen. "Especially that - it's remarkable..."

"Yeah, I bet humans have nothing like this!"

"We definitely do not - and I don't even recognize half the stuff in this room."

"Oohh, how about this!?" She jumps off the bed and flounces over to the grid-patterned table. I can't help but watch as her generous bust shakes with each movement.

She presses a button on the table, and with a flash, two plates appear. One has something I don't particularly recognize, while the other is very clearly scrambled eggs and home fries. And from the smell alone, I can tell they're from my favorite Brooklyn diner.

"Lunch on demand! And exactly what you're craving!"

I stare at it for a moment, slack-jawed, trying to wrap my head around the fact that something like this even exists. I chuckle lightly as I give up on trying to guess how it works.

"With something like that, I'm surprised you're not, like, 500 pounds!"

She grins triumphantly at me. "Our food will only ever give you the exact number of calories you need each day for your body type! Nobody here gets fat!"

I act impressed, because I am, but I can't help but wonder... what about people outside of the royal family? There must be people on this planet that don't have access to such amazing food.

I don't bring it up, however - she's clearly quite sheltered and spoiled, and it wouldn’t be my place to attempt to make her aware of such a thing.

So, I sit across from her and we dig in. I thoroughly enjoy each bite, closing my eyes to savor each mouthful.

"That was great," I sigh as I lean back, completely full. Actually, more full than usual from such a meal - I usually have room for the toast alongside the eggs and home fries, but I feel like I'm completely stuffed.

She leans on the table, grinning at me. "So, what d'you think? Isn't this place amazing?"

"It sure is..."

"And since you're my pet, you'll get anything and everything you want!"

I smile blissfully. Sounds like a good life...

Time passes...
