Focus on Sandra

I decide its best to keep a focused mind and work on one target before spreading myself too thin. At the very least, it seems like I can try to find situations to move her needle for now. Maybe later I can be more proactive, but for now, I'll just work with whatever situations I can.

I go through the motions until the Friday Calculus lecture. For whatever reason, when we move on to a new unit, Mr. Rhimes decides to place the most important day to attend on a Friday. I don't know if he does it out of spite for people skipping Friday lectures or what, but today is one of those days, and on top of that, it seems like Lady Luck is smiling on me today. Sandra isn't in class. I concoct a plan. Today, I will take the best possible notes I can for the class. I'll even jot down anything I know or figure out beyond that. Then I'll try to strike a deal with her for my notes. I'll try to push it as far as I can.

After an hour of being the most studious I've probably ever been, I'm exhausted, and thankfully, its time for the weekend for me. However, I'm not filled with the normal joy for the weekend I normally have. Usually, it means 2 days of getting to just play video games and relax. Now though, I find myself anxious, waiting for Monday.

Playing video games seems like a distraction all weekend. I play them, don't get me wrong, but the whole time, I'm waiting for Monday's math lecture.

Finally, after what seems like an eternity, its Monday math lecture. Sandra walks in five minutes before class, as is usual. She sits down, and starts talking with her friend sitting next to her.

I turn around and begin talking to her, "Hey Sandra, did you hear we moved on to a new unit on Friday on Derivatives?"

Sandra turns to face me, "Yes, I heard. Kassidy told me about it, and let me borrow her notes from the day. So its no big loss." she says, but seems like she is annoyed beyond just the annoyance of having to talk to me.

This is going exactly as I was hoping. From overhearing their conversations in the past, Kassidy is not a particularly good student, and beyond that her notes are a mess. I speak up again, "I've got my notes from the day, but I guess if you've already got Kassidy's notes, then you probably don't want to check mine at all." I slowly start to turn around, but make a point to move my hand holding the notebook.

"Wait, I might want to see your notes, just in case." Sandra responds.

Jackpot.

"You can't be serious Sand." Kassidy replies, "Stooping to using his notes, ugh."

I turn around again, and look at Sandra, "Alright, but here is the deal. I'll let you look over my notes, copy them, whatever, but in exchange, you ask nicely for them, AND apologize for talking shit right behind my back in the past, and promise not to do it again."

"Come on Sand, its not worth it, let the dweeb be a dweeb by himself." Kassidy sneers.

"Wait Kassidy." Sandra speaks up, putting her hand up towards Kassidy. "Let me at least look over a page of the notes first, then I'll decide. You know how bad your notes are, and I don't want to fall behind in class just because I can't swallow a little bit of pride."

"Fair enough to me." I reply and open the notebook to the first two pages of notes, and hold it up in front of Sandra.

She looks at it for a little bit, and speaks up. "Fine. May I PLEASE copy your notes from Friday, and I'm sorry for talking bad about you right behind you. I won't do it anymore. That's enough right, that's what you wanted?"

You nod and hand her your notebook.

"God, I can't believe you did that Sand. You take school too seriously sometimes." Kassidy says.

Sandra diligently starts copying your notes into her notebook. While you wait, you pull out your phone and open the Submission Accelerator App. One new notification. (Sandra Rankine: +11SP, Score: -20)

I didn't expect it to move that much.
