Yes but not till later that night.

Emma was the first to respond. "Sounds like a plan, we'll tell you all about it," she said excitedly.

"Which site are you guys staying in?" this time it was Robyn to speak.

Both guys smiled and the one who had given Robyn the shirt answered, "we're in site 113, and we'd love to see you two later."

"It's a date!" Emma blurted out. The four of them enjoyed a good laugh then decided to part ways until later that night.

Emma and Robyn went back to their camp site, since they'd had enough hiking adventures for one day. Neither girl said much on the walk back to the camp. The sun was now setting in the west and it turned the sky a beautiful red and orange color. The two girls, both lost in their own thoughts never once noticed the beautiful sunset. The silence continued for a while longer as Robyn built a fire and reheated whatever leftovers the couple had from the pervious meals. The two surf buddies and long time friends ate without saying a word. Finally it was Emma who broke the silence.

"I was so scared Robs, I thought it was the end. You know," she said as she sat down on the picnic bench next to Robyn. Robyn had made a good fire and it was putting off a good warmth. It was also the only light in the dark campsite. Emma looked into Robyn's face, the fire's light danced on her cheeks and in her eyes. "I thought a lot of things while I was dangling over that drop."

Robyn put her arm around her friend's shoulder to comfort her. Emma went on, "when your whole life flashes before your eyes it makes you think about the things you have and what you would miss out on if it were to end. You've been a good friend to me over the last couple years Robyn... and I think I love you." Emma leaned over and softly kissed Robyn on the lips. Emma pulled back and looked into her friend's eyes. In her mind they were soul-mates.
