Chapter 7 by JackKinnoph JackKinnoph

How Does She Get Passed?

Wait for the Rocks to Clear

In a split second decision, Tex pulled on the reins, commanding her mount to stop. Boulders crashed down mere inches from the unfortunate creature's hooves, startling it. Likely it had seen more than its share of adventure today, but thankfully it wouldn't be adding "getting pancaked" to its agenda.

Tex sighed in frustration. The horse and the sheriff were safe and, for the most part, unharmed. But every second they waited, that rancid roo put more and more distance between herself and justice. And yet, as the dust kicked up, she saw the crushing canyon debris rolling by without end, and became apprehensive. What if the rockslide had turned the way forward into an obstacle course, or even blocked the path entirely? She’d have to turn back and let the criminal live to fight another day.

“Yoohoo!” Suddenly, a snarky voice called from above, followed by a rumbling sound.

She looked up, following the familiar voice. Tex’s eyes shrank to dots, and she **** the horse forward. A second later, a massive canyon boulder crashed where they had just been standing. Looking up at the cliff face, they saw the silhouette of the fat outlaw and her just as fat ride. Butterscotch had used her ass to dislodge another rock, much larger this time around, and perched precariously on the cliff.

“I was just gonna regroup back at my hideout, but yanno what I noticed?” Roxxie called down to her pursuer. “There ain’t no one else but you n me out here. I could run. But who could resist an opportunity to finish off the great Texas Stanton?”

All too late, the sheriff realized that Roxxie had used the giant piece of rock to seal the way back. And with the bandit towering above her, she was at a major disadvantage! The dust was everywhere. Was the path forward clear yet?

What Should She Do?
