Royal meeting

You lean back in your chair, chuckling. “This is odd. Almost like having new world technology.”

In front of you are three mirrors, showing images of Queen Sella, Queen Kallista, and Forgefather Unir. All three smile at your comment. Sella nods. “Well, here magic advanced to fill the gaps that technology did for you. It’s just more difficult to acquire here.”

You nod. “So, as I’m sure you already knew, I am king here now. Trevor passed me the crown.”

Kallista smiles. “He informed us of the decision, and we all agreed it was best. You’re leading this effort, you should have a stake in it.”

You smile. “I think the future for my children is stakes enough.”

Sella laughs. “Let me guess...Maya?”

You chuckle. “Good guess. Yes, I’m pretty sure she’s puking right now.”

All three of them grin, and Unir says, “Well, tell the Lady of Scales that we wish her well.”

You nod. “I will. Now, to less pleasant topics. I need to know, what should I do regarding these turncoat kingdoms? Do I just invade? I don’t want to be seen as a tyrant or a warlord.”

Kallista nods. “The way I see it, they assassinated Trevor. That’s a declaration of war right there. Additionally, they took in Halid, a deposed and disgraced former leader. From what I understand, he’s the one who will be leading their side, claiming he was wronged.”

You sigh. “I never should have let him live.”

Sella shakes her head. “Your mercy does you credit. However, this time he must not survive. He is an odious man, but no fool when it comes to tactics. He will be tough on the battlefield.”

You smile. “Oh, I have plans for that. Besides, I don’t intend to get into a long war with him. We need to end this before the demon lord brings his forces back this way.”

Unir nods. “Our forces have begun assembling. As soon as they are prepared, I will open the earthen paths to get them to you quickly.”

Sella gestures towards you. “With your permission, I will send scouts to find Halid’s army. Then we can meet them somewhere favorable.”

Kallista smiles. “And I will send as many troops as I can spare. I will send Elys with them, keep her safe, Josh.”

You chuckle. “And to think at one point she was my bodyguard. I will keep her safe. Thank you, everyone. I will go gather my own forces. Sella, once we know where he is, we will need what you can spare as well.”

Sella nods. “Of course.”

You smile. “Thank you. Now, let’s get this done so we can focus on the real enemy.”

One by one, the mirrors go blank. You sigh.
