Chapter 148 by Sarckle Sarckle

What's next?

John's Battle

The group watches as the 3rd battle is cleared from the battlefield. You wonder if the victor will be your third opponent or if they’ll be in the next battle. After watching Fred win the 2nd match and the 3rd winner, you are feeling pretty confident about your chances of making it through the next 2 rounds. Or maybe the confidence is just a mix of **** and Yuruki’s confidence in you. “Oooh, we got another hottie on deck,” Cindy announces as the next challenger makes her way on the stage, “Paris of Cianwood!” She waves to the crowd as she takes her spot, “And Henry of Cinnabar Island isn’t half bad himself. If only it wasn’t against Tournament rules for me to join in the fun.”

You watch as Paris expertly commands her Seviper around the opponent’s Cacturne, Cindy makes her usual sexual remarks as the battle continues. “I’m up next, so I need to get down there,” John says.

You grab him as he passes. “You’ve got this,” you say, reaching up to give him a kiss. The rest of the group give their own versions of saying good luck, before John makes his way down to the waiting area.

The crowd cheers for the raven haired girl’s pokemon knocks out the opponent, leaving Henry with just one pokemon. “This might be the longest dry streak the Rookie Tournament has ever seen,” Cindy mocks as Henry throws out his Hippopotas, “And I don’t think Henry is about to break it unless hot stuff here throws it.” The crowd joins in with Cindy’s laughter. You feel bad for Henry, but you can’t say that you disagree. Paris is fighting circles around him, and you won’t be surprised if she does the same to the next guy. You’re already mentally preparing to be up against her. “Tough luck Henry but I’m sure there are plenty of ladies out there willing to console you,” Cindy booms out over the sound system as Henry’s pokemon faints.

“She’s going to be tough,” Yuruki says with a mouthful of nachos. “Too bad you can’t get Trapinch to evolve with the limiter on.”

“I would go with Runt,” Jack interjects. She gives us a smile when we look to her, “She was relying on Seviper’s reach, striking with the head and tail, but its body stayed mostly in place. I would let Runt’s speed dodge the strikes and attack the body.”

You pull her in, kissing her cheek, “You sexy genius.”

“Wow, talk about tall, dark, and handsome. It’s John of Viridian City,” Cindy swoons over your boyfriend. “And on the other side is Opal of Vermilion City,” a short girl appears on the far side. Her hair is a pastel blue that seems to catch the light with each step, specks flitting in a variety of colors. “She’s half his size, don’t take this the long way Opal, but damn I would love to see him split you in two.” The crowd cheers in agreement, you feel bad that the crowd is against the poor girl, but you still hope for John’s victory.

Ninjask zips around the open arena. Opal sends out a Pachirisu. The two pokemon speed around the battlefield. Ninjask diving to slash, Pachirisu fires off electrical strikes. Ninjask is slowing down, did he get paralyzed? Ninjask swoops low, slapping mud at his opponent. The clod of dirt passes over the incoming electroball. Both of them are hit, and Cindy calls out, “A double knock out! How fun! Come on John, pull this out, I can’t be the only one who wants to fuck Opal.” You catch Opal shooting a **** stare at Cindy before angrily reaching for her next pokemon.

The both of them toss out their final pokemon. John’s Scyther appears opposite Opal’s . . . Scyther? “Wow, twinsies,” Cindy laughs. The two bug pokemon square off, before flying at each other. Their bladed arms clash in a flurry of strikes. They fly and buzz around their arms clashing as they pass each other. The fight looks even, neither sign showing any signs of backing down.

The crowd is loving the fight. The green blurs finally come to a stop on the ground. Both pokemon are barely still standing, their breathing is ragged. You can’t hear the commands, but John and Opal both gesture forward. The Scyther lunge at each other, a final clash of their blades. They pass each other, their blows exchanged. The crowd silently watches as both pokemon pause before Opal’s Scyther drops to the ground.

“What a battle! But the Tournament’s dry spell is finally over!” Cindy cheers. John looks back at your seat in the stands. You give him a thumbs up, you’d already talked about this situation.
