Arriving at Maya’s village

You end up leaving the next day, since everyone wants to celebrate the happy news. Once you head out a realization hits you. Your next destination was Maya’s home village. Maya’s father will be there. You groan as you brace yourself for the conversation, despite the fact that you know Daigo will be happy for you and Maya.

You reach the village around midday, and Maya is practically bouncing with excitement. “I was the only monster girl in the village, and everyone treated me very well. It was hard to leave it behind, but as usual, dad was right. In the end, I met my Josh.”

Maya smiles at you affectionately. You smile back. “Well, now you can have both. And look who it is...”

As you approach the village, you see Daigo walking out to greet you. “You made it! Welcome!”

You all wave, and his smile broadens. “I told everyone you were coming. I hope you don’t mind, some of the rumors about all of you didn’t build you up enough. Especially my little girl’s...boyfriend? What should we call you?”

You chuckle. “Honestly, boyfriend seems a bit...weak, considering everything, but we’re not married, so I guess it’s accurate.”

Daigo looks at you for a moment, then at Maya. “Something is different here. Maya, what’s going on?”

Maya giggles. “Something’s definitely different. How would you feel about being a grandfather?”

He blinks, looking between the two of you for a moment, and then quickly steps in close, gathering both of you into a big hug. “Oh you two, that’s wonderful! Finally convinced Josh it was a good idea?”

Maya grins and blushes. “I think it was kind of a spur of the moment thing, actually.”

You chuckle. “Not to go into detail...yeah, very.”

Daigo laughs. “Yeah, I don’t need to know details. But at least there’s plenty of help around once things get tough! So congratulations you two! Speaking of help...who’s the new girl?”

You laugh. “Ahh, that’s Uzume! Bast brought her here, to meet me.”

Daigo grows serious, and mutters, “Always meddling. He’s lucky I approve.”

In a louder voice he says, “Hello Uzume! I’m Daigo, Maya’s father.”

Uzume grins as she approaches, towering over even the transformed dragon’s height. “Hey! I know who you are. It’s nice to meet you!”

She offers a huge hand, which Daigo shakes. They both laugh and Daigo shakes his head. “Good grip, but dragons don’t get weaker in human form.”

Uzume smiles. “I had to check! We should arm wrestle later.”

Daigo laughs again. “We will. I feel better about my daughters safety with a friendly Oni around. Be good to Josh he’s a good man.”

Uzume nods. “I will, and I’ve heard that a lot. He’s definitely growing on me. As are the girls, they’re all a lot of fun. Except Yura. She’s just adorable, and I’ll get her to loosen up eventually!”

Everyone laughs, and even Yura gives her small smile. Daigo chuckles. “Follow me, we can relax in the village. I have a guide coming tomorrow to help you get around Ellon.”

You look at him, surprised. “You didn’t need to do that!”

He chuckles. “I didn’t intend to, but she was listening in as I talked about your family, and she was intrigued. She went home to prepare, and she’ll be back tomorrow. For now, come on, I’ll show you around!”
