Chapter 26 by fantaghiro
What's next?
Randall sitting on your bed.
Gah!" you shouted in shock, not expecting to wake up to find your teacher sitting at the foot of your bed. "Wuh...uh..." you stammered in confusion until Randall broke out in laughter.
"Dude, you should see your face!" he teased.
At that everything finally came back to you. You blinked your eyes, trying to shake off the lingering sleepiness. "What are you doing? And where's Allison?" you asked, glancing around.
Randall snorted. "You must have slept like a log. Allison is downstairs helping your mom. She's been up for over an hour."
You grimaced. "Well someone kept me up most of the night. And got me drunk!"
He laughed again. "Can't hold your liquor, kid?" He shook his head. "Well, at least you got some more rest. I've spent all-freaking-day with your mom in 'How to Be a Woman'. God, as if the stuff in the hospital wasn't enough. I've learned things that would give you nightmares..." he said with a pretend shudder.
"Thanks, but I get the picture," you responded, not really interesting in hearing the details. "So what are you doing up here?"
He sighed. "Well, I said I'd come get you up - but I really wanted a chance to talk alone for a minute."
You grew still. You hadn't had time to think about the ramifications of last night's actions, but now you were worried. Had you completely screwed up your friendship.
Randall must have noticed you tensing up. "Relax, Tim," he said in a surprisingly gentle tone. "I'm cool with us. You'll always be my best bud, no matter what happens. And frankly, last night was totally, fucking amazing! I wouldn't have passed that up for the world."

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
