Chapter 21 by TheLeherengin TheLeherengin

Enter the glinting room?

A light in the dark?

Yulia stands at the entrance to the room and shifts from foot to foot nervously, "I'm not sure if removing my panties is a good idea, but... if you think I should... I suppose it might be less uncomfortable..." she says and then looking around carefully she slowly reaches down and being careful not to reveal much she begins to slide her soaking wet panties down her legs, lifting each foot to slide the damp. white garment off and she then hesitantly slips them into her bag.

That done she takes a few seconds to recover her composure, feeling a bit embarrassed to not be wearing anything down there anymore. She huffs, "It's not my fault I don't have a second pair of underwear... It was against the rules to bring extra clothes apparently... I guess to **** chosen to have to be reliant on the systems inside the tower to replace any damaged or destroyed clothing..." she says sounding irritated, "Although your idea about practicing my spells and resting does seem to have merit. I can try that when I get back to the rest area," she agrees.

She looks up as she thinks about her response to the question about her reason for coming to the tower, "If... I stayed... I could probably help some people. Make their last moments happier and more comfortable and that... Well that's definitely worth it, but... that would be all I could do. The plague is going to kill everyone, it's unstoppable. We'd been trying everything we could think of to create a cure or a vaccine or something, anything to help, but nothing worked. In the end I figured this was the only way. The Tower is known to be able to give any kind of reward. I'd gladly sacrifice everything, my body, my mind, my life... Anything to help others. I suppose someone else might have been a better choice, but.. Well the other thing is I'm..." she hesitates and then sighs, "I'm expendable. I'm a good healer, but we have lots of those, I have no real authority in the church and my... feeble body isn't very useful for anything other than healing so while I might not have the best chance of conquering this tower I'm also the one my world would miss the least if I fail..." she admits.

She seems to become a little depressed thinking about it. It seems likely that she had tried not to think about that fact much, but she shakes her head, "Anyway... It doesn't matter. I'm here now and I'm going to do my best!" she says and then turns her attention to the glinting hallway. She takes a step inside and glances towards the torch above the door, it's just a bit out of reach and she contemplates jumping for it, but she's nervous about possibly knocking it down and potentially setting something in the room on fire. She sighs and takes the chair leg out and can just about reach to light the end of it on fire.

Now with a makeshift torch she turns her attention to the rest of the room. She tries to use the torch to get a better idea of the room and her actions reveal that the glinting seems to actually be a number of almost invisible threads criss crossing the room. She reaches out to touch one at first, but hesitates and decides against it. She takes out her new rapier instead and gently presses on one with it. Poised to flee if it turns out to be some kind of trip wire. The line cuts easily as the rapier applies even the slightest pressure to it, but there's no sound or sign of anything activating. She lets out a breath she hadn't even realized she'd been holding and begins to slowly move through the room, using the torch to reveal the threads and cutting them with the rapier until she's reached the far door and she opens the door and heads through.

The room on the other side of the door seems to be some kind of storage room. Shelves line either side of the tiny room and decrepit armor, rusted weapons and spoiled food sits on those shelves. At the back of the room, however there are two items. One is a simple iron key, the back of it shaped like a coin and the other is a gleaming suit of armor. Full plate complete with a helm and it gleams gold, but is clearly steel with gold coating.

She stares at the armor, she's unsure if she could even move in it, but it sure is shiny and it would probably trade for a lot with Dahlia or Yulia or sell for a lot if she brought it back to her world.
