Chapter 64 by landmaster1234
Does anything happen while she sleeps? If not, when does she wake up?
Hermione wakes up to a mysterious tapping noise
Tap tap tap
Hermione's eyes slowly fluttered open. The alarm clock next to her bed showed that it was about 10 minutes until dinner.
Tap tap tap
Hermione yawned and stretched getting out of the bed, still naked, to see where the noise was coming from.
Tap tap tap
She looked around the room and saw nothing, but when she heard the tapping again, she realized it was coming from the window. She opened it and in flew an owl. It did a full circle around the room, dropping a letter on Hermione's bed before taking off again.
Hermione recognized Hagrid's untidy scrawl as soon as she saw it. She opened the note and began to read.
Hermione,
Thought you should know that Professor Trelawney left the castle today. She decided to go to St. Mungo's to deal with her little sherry issue.
Now I wouldn't normally bother you none about it, but she says that while she was drunk, she could have sworn she saw you naked. She told Professor McGonagall that she wanted to deal with the problem if she was starting to see students in the nude. She should be back by the time term starts up again! Dumbledore don't think Professor McGonagall suspects nothing, but be careful now.
Dumbledore also told me how you needed to find places to hide away in the castle if you ever do decide to wander naked again, so tonight make sure you go to bed on time! I'll come up to the castle after hours and get a few more doors unlocked for you. Don't let the Slytherins know, or Professor McGonagall will have my hide! I'll have to lock them again before the end of the holidays, anyway, but best that the Slytherins don't go skulking where they don't belong.
If you need a friend to talk to, you know where to find me. Just make sure you're clothed before showing up.
-Hagrid
P.S. It might be smart to not let people see this letter. Hide it, or burn it if you have to
Hermione was somewhat nervous... Trelawney had told McGonagall that Hermione was naked... But would McGonagall believe her?
Hermione remembered how McGonagall often hinted at how little she cared about Trelawney's subject, but that she did care for her as a colleague when Umbridge had tried to have her thrown out of the castle... While Trelawney admitted to being drunk at the time and was known to make up things to make herself seem important, this was the first time where she says she didn't quite trust what she had seen... That could raise some suspicion.
But Hermione had a reputation. She was top of the class and only ever broke the rules when she was with Harry and Ron. She had been a prefect and head girl, before she took off school for a year, and that was to save the wizarding world! Perhaps McGonagall would take Trelawney's explanation that she was just drunk at face value...
Hermione read the letter again.
So... It seemed that Hagrid had a portrait of Dumbledore in his hut, too... She began to wonder just how many frames he had around the grounds. Had he watched her play quidditch? Was he keeping an eye on the laundry? Could he be in this very room? She shuddered to think of how humiliating that would be.
Of course, she had forgotten one of Hagrid's other jobs at the school... He wasn't just the groundskeeper and professor for Care of Magical Creatures, he was also the keeper of the keys. She'd have to thank him for this next time she saw him.
She took the letter and put it inside her trunk, hiding it away. With nobody in the castle that would go searching in her room, were they able to, she felt confident the letter would be safe there for now.
Her stomach growled. She was getting a little hungry now. She threw on one of the borrowed robes for now and checked the marauder's map before heading downstairs. She had felt she had been naked enough today, and wanted to avoid Peeves. She found that he was zooming around the courtyard, far away from the path she'd take if she used shortcuts to get to the great hall for dinner. She realized that there was something she had to do before she went to bed, however, so she grabbed her bag and wand, as well.
In a short amount of time, she made it and started to eat. About halfway through her shepherd's pie, the Slytherins came in. They demanded a wardrobe check, to which Hermione obliged, getting up and raising up her robes, revealing her body again before she returned to her dinner, this time allowing her bare bottom to rest on the seat under her robes.
She ignored the Slytherins' occasional comments made her way as she finished up her plate, then she decided to heed Hagrid's advice and head straight up to the dormitory again.
Along the way upstairs, she stopped by the charms classroom. She saw that the pillows were still damp from that morning when Peeves had doused her with water. With a few quick wand waves, the pillows were cleaned, dried, and put back in their cupboard, as if she had never taken them out in the first place. She also took the library book she had left in there to see if it might have tips to speed up the alteration process on her robes.
Once she had returned to the Gryffindor common room, she began to read over the book again, trying to find a shortcut. She started to get a little itchy in her borrowed robe, so she ended up taking it off right there in the common room. She was naked in the squashy armchair, and it felt so good... She took felt around the stored robes in her bag to get her wand and, with a quick wave, she conjured a blanket.
Maybe just a few minutes in the chair to rest her eyes a little, then she'd get back to reading...
Does she wake up before Thursday?
