Arrogance and challenge

You walk towards the throne, hands in your pockets and flanked by Anna and Maya. You glance around casually, noting advisors, petitioners, and hangers on. Turning your attention to Halid, you’re disgusted to note a pair of women chained by collars to his throne. One is the catgirl you saw before, and the other is some kind of bunny girl. Both watch you with dead, hopeless eyes, both wearing what amounts to a bit of semi transparent cloth.

Halid leans forward in his seat. “How can you be here, boy? You left! I made sure you were gone! And now you return, and with a crowd of your little sluts. Including the exile.”

You nod. “Correct. I came back. Partially because of you, ‘your highness’. You see, all of these girls came to me depressed and mistreated. By people like you, abusing their power.”

Halid scoffs. “They’re beasts. Useful only in bed, or as decoration.”

You glare at him. “If that were true, they would still be more useful than you.”

“You watch your words, boy. You’re not in your world anymore, your money can’t help you here. Now, explain how you’re back, mageling.”

You grin. “I don’t take orders from you, you pile of lard. And I came back by fixing the portal. For someone so close to it, you really don’t notice much, do you? You’re a weaker mage than I thought.”

Angry, Halid glares at you. “You dare insult me in my own throne room?”

You grin wider. “Yes.”

“Mageling, I will give you one chance to earn my forgiveness. Give me one of your girls and I won’t kill you where you stand. Say, her.” He points at Maya.

Your grin drops. “This is between us, Halid. Involving my family is a mistake. Involving Maya is a bigger mistake.”

As you speak, you reach out with your mind, using telekinesis to unlock the collars on his **** girls. The effort makes sweat bead on your brow. As you hoped, Halid takes the bait, not noticing the collars dropping away.

“I see your nervousness, boy. You’re sweating. Let me give you a taste of real power.”

With that, he hurls a small ball of fire at you. You don’t move, or flinch. The fire fades before it ever reaches you. You lift a hand, rolling your palm upwards. A small fire appears in your hand.

“Thanks, I needed a fire spell. Fairly weak though.”

Halid leans back, confused. He becomes more confused when his girls bolt from the room, using the drama unfolding to flee. “What...what are you?”

You shrug. “It’s irrelevant. I’m more than you, however. I’m going to give you a choice, which is more than you deserve. Abdicate your throne, or face consequences.”

“You can’t attack me! I am king! You have no right!”

You **** a smile. “I cannot, true. But he can.”

The girls part and Trevor steps forward. Drawing his sword, he glares at Halid. “By the right of the champion I challenge you, Halid. Do you accept or do you yield?”
