Chapter 8 by wit1

Where do you go?

To the Swimming Pool

You tilted your head to the left. Linda shrugged and headed down the corridor. Ignoring the stairs that led up to the stands, Linda led the way through the first door to the right. It led down a short corridor to another door. An unobtrusive door on the left led to a small changing room. It was reserved for the faculty and officials for the swimming and diving meets. Linda held the door open for you.

Unlike most high school and public pools, the Fitness center didn’t have an ‘L’ shaped pool that had a small deep section attached a main section marked with the lanes for swim meets. Instead, it had separate pools for swimming and diving. The swimming pool, like most pools, had the standard lane markers. It also has permanent starting blocks, electronic sensors and underwater cameras built in. The buoys that were used to divide the lanes at the surface were hung on hooks on the wall to the left. The smaller pool was used for diving. In addition to a 10 meter platform with 3 meter spring boards to either side, the diving pool had spray jets to reduce reflections. There were underwater cameras to give views of the divers after they entered into the water.

Additionally, the area had a state of the art score board that could display the image from any of the underwater cameras. Built into the 10 meter tower were several showerheads. And to either side of the tower were small warm-up pools. They were equipped with heaters and water jets. Although the jets were off, the wisps of steam indicate the heaters were on. Flipping a switch on the wall would turn them into hot tubs.

A couple lights above the pool were on, but the stands and water were both dark. Despite the dimness, you could see that there was no one around. You looked to Linda to see if she had any ideas. A smile spread over her face.

What does Linda have in mind
