You?? WTF

You sat up dressing yourself and making sure your seals were active. Satisfied you exited the bathroom to find Harmony sound asleep with little Anthony no longer in his crib but instead in her arms sound asleep.

As you looked on you wondered what all the power you had was worth if in the end time couldn’t fix everything. As you clutched your pocket watch you wondered what was the point of traveling or even commanding time if you couldn’t change the past or the future without breaking paradoxes or damaging the past or future timelines.

As you contemplated what real power you even have time seemed to freeze. You looked around to see every thing frozen even your own pocket watch seemingly was frozen in time. As you looked around you saw a much talker man with a blue and green eye like yours. He wore a jacket and tie with matching slacks and oddly blue sneakers. He had a silver chain leading into one of his jacket pockets and a crow was perched on his shoulder. The man’s face had cuts and yet he smiled a warm smile that seemed eerily familiar to you.

“Hello Nathan it seems you reached that point in our timeline that oh so important point.” He said smiling as he took a seat on your couch. “Who are you?” The man smiled before replying. “I am what you call a time echo, a memory if you will left by your future self to guide you on matters related to our time magic.” You took a seat across from your echo before speaking.

“So then can you tell me the future do I have a family? Does my mom and dad end up free? Is Harmony ok-“ your echo only put his hand up before you became silent and he spoke. “I cannot see the future for I am an echo left behind to guide you so no I don’t know. Even if I did I would drastically change our timeline if I did tell you the future so I wouldn’t be able to tell you anyway.” Your Echo then smiled as you crossed your arms.

“So then what can you help me with?” Your echo only tugged on the silver chain to pull out a pocket watch that was exactly like yours. “I can tell you the basic rules of time rules that no even your future self will break and trust me when I say millions of rules exist but for our sanity’s sake we have only a few guiding rules.” Your echo said standing up.

“Rule #1 No traveling to the past or future unless you are simply observing. As in a few timelines we have learned the hard way that history is very tricky and no you still can’t see your own future.” Your echo said much to your disappointment.

“Rule #2 No matter who it is or how important they are short of making more deals with the dark one there is no way to consistently save someone without altering history in such a way that it doesn’t change or damage the timeline.” He said much to your worry.

“Rule #3 The dark one cannot be tricked by time he is unaffected by time so making a deal and then using time magic to weasel your way out is a big no-no we know because we have tried.” Your echo said killing any idea of doing so.

“Finally Rule #4 if you do feel the need change something in history please for the love of god find a time echo first lest you permanently or irreparably damage our timeline while I can’t solve all of your problems I can at least insure the past, present and future don’t melt into an ugly time mess.” Your echo said. You only nodded as your time echo smiled before you heard the clacking of a pen hitting the floor.

You turned to see it fall before turning back once more to see your echo gone. In his place a note that read.

“Don’t be an idiot!”

You smiled crumpling the note before tossing it away. As you looked over your pocket watch you clicked it open to see a picture of you and Harmony before you realized you should probably get a new picture with you, Harmony and Anthony after all the two of you were married and had a son now. Yes you could do that on Tuesday after classes after all the weather was supposed to be nice out by then.
