Chapter 7 by sperik sperik

Who are they?

Noble travelers from the east

"My name is Noha. My family and I are traveling to meridian on the kings personal invitation."

He points around the group of people. Two men were standing close to each other, one with a baby on his arm. Then there was another group of about ten men in uniforms.

"These two are my sons, and this little guy is my grandson. And these fine gentlemen are my guards."

Lon looked around and then nodded towards the campfire were the women were sitting.

"Oh, yes. These are my wife, my sons wife and my..."

Noha inspected Lon as if considering what to tell him.

"... My wife's company. Look the storm is probably going to last at least for the rest of the day. We have enough food for all, why don't you stay with us for now?"

Lon looked over to his sister. She looked a bit insecure.

"Hmn? What's it going to be? Stay or go now? What are you thinking about so long? Aren't you in charge here or what?"

Noha laughed frantically.

"Uhm... Sure... I say we stay for now."

Fara just kinda shrugged.

"Here have something to eat."

A small woman reached her hand out offering a loaf of bread. She didn't even look up at Lon. He took the bread, took a bite and then wanted to sit down by his sister.

"Oh nooo, why don't you sit with us? Leave the women to themselves? Have a talk with us men?"

Something's wrong here. Lon could feel it in his spine. This ugly feeling of danger wouldn't go away ever the entire evening. No matter how many stories Noha and his sons knew to tell. It crept him out how he was separated from his sister, while still technically being so relatively close.
Eventually they all went to sleep. The men and women separated by a cotton curtain.
Lon lied directly next to the curtain. Made him feel better somehow.

The following night
