Breakfast banter

You wake in the morning with Kali on your chest, her wings like a blanket around you. You gently brush her hair away from her face, and her gold and blue eyes open. She smiles, and hugs you tightly.

“I can’t believe that this is how I ended up, Josh. I will never be able to thank you enough for saving me. You’re my savior, and I’m so grateful.”

You chuckle, and softly kiss her. “That’s a bit heavy for first thing in the morning, don’t you think?”

Kali giggles, and the two of you reluctantly get out of bed. After a few minutes of getting cleaned up and dressed, you make your way down to the dining room.

Expecting the girls there ready to tease you and Kali, you’re surprised that only Anna is awake.

“Good morning master! I see you two had a good evening. It seems Miss Kali is fitting in quite well!” Anna giggles, causing Kali to blush.

“Awww, look at that, she’s positively glowing! I’d say you did well, master.”

“Enough Anna, no need to torment her. Yes, we had a good time, and another good time last night. Are you the only one up so far?”

Anna nods, giving you a grin. “You weren’t the only one having fun , master. Oh, speaking of having fun, there they are!”

Walking into the dining room are Maya, looking happy as ever, and Elys, who has a rather satisfied look on her face. Behind them, Lynn staggers in, looking bedraggled but also euphoric.

You laugh, “It looks like someone else is glowing this morning! You three had a good time, I take it?”

Maya and Elys grin and nod, and Lynn gives you an exhausted but happy smile. Maya speaks up.

“I think we broke Lynn! She’s just too cute, my Josh. And it turns out she’s insatiable, too!”

Everyone laughs, and Lynn smiles, blushing. Sadie bounces into the room, and pouts. “Awww, everyone got laid but me! I feel left out!”

Anna raises an eyebrow. “Not everyone, Sadie. Maybe we can convince master to have a little fun with us later...”

You chuckle. “Plotting already. Today is Maya’s day with me though, so you’ll need to get her in on any plan.”

Maya grins, “Sorry Anna, my plan is set! You’ll have to wait till tomorrow. I’m sure you’ll find some way to entertain yourself!”

Before an argument could start, the phone rings. Seeing that it’s Rachel calling, you put the phone on speaker.

“Good morning Rachel! Good timing, everyone is at breakfast.”

“Good morning Rachel!” All the girls chorus.

“Josh, we need to talk. What is going on over there? I just got a report abou you confronting Kali? What happened?”

“Ahh, I should have figured that would come up. Put it this way, Kali and her portal are not problems anymore.”

“What does that even mean? Josh, what happened?”

“It’s a bit of a long story. Basically, Kali is on the path to being a good person now. She’s actually sitting next to me.”

“WHAT?! Josh, I’m on my way, do not go anywhere!”

“Fine, but I have a date with Maya later, so we can’t take too long.”

You can hear Rachel’s aggravation over the phone. “This isn’t a joke, Josh! You can’t just...look, I’ll be there soon.”

The phone hangs up with a click. Kali touches your arm, looking nervous.

“Don’t worry, Kali. We’ll explain things and move on. Why don’t you help Anna in the kitchen while we wait. It’s a good chance to talk with her, which you need to do anyway.”

Kali nods nervously, following Anna. You turn to the other girls.

“This isn’t going to be pleasant. Rachel won’t be happy with Kali being here, and she DEFINITELY won’t like what I did with the portal. So I apologize in advance if this takes too long, Maya.”

Maya grins, “It’s fine, but if I miss my date I’m going to throw her out the window!”
