Attractive opposites (Sadie POV)

Sadie wandered around the house, thinking. A casual observer wouldn’t expect it from the carefree djinn, but a lot of the time, her persona was a bit of an act. She spent a lot of time with her own thoughts, especially since many people treat djinn like ditzy airheads. In truth, this house has been the first place that Sadie has felt accepted as an equal.

So engrossed in her thoughts, she didn’t hear the footsteps until she turned the corner and almost ran over Elys. Dancing aside, she saw that the gorgon was as surprised as she was. Probably deep in thought as well. Elys was so serious, seemingly the opposite of Sadie.

“Oh, I’m sorry Elys! I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going!”

Elys smiles and waves away the apology. “My fault anyway, Sssadie. I wasss lossst in thought. You’re who I wasss looking for anyway! Would you like to hang out for a little while today?”

“You want to hang out? Yay! I was wondering what to do today! What do you want to do?”

“Well, I wasss going to asssk if you want to sssing with me. You sssounded lovely the other day, and I have sssome new musssic you may like.”

Sadie claps excitedly. “Oh, that’s great! Lead the way!”

Sadie smiles and falls into step beside the elegant gorgon. As excited about new music as she was, there were other reasons she wanted to spend time with Elys, questions she wanted to ask. Well, no time like the present!

“Say, Elys, do you mind if I ask you some questions? I’m pretty sure that’s what Josh wanted, for us to get to know each other a little...” Sadie trails off when Elys looks at her. “I mean, it’s ok if you’re not comfortable with that...”

Elys laughs, “It’s fine, dear! You jussst looked ssso ssserious when you sssaid that.”

Sadie smiles, “I can be serious sometimes! But, umm...honestly, I’m curious why you picked Josh? You know, when you got here? I don’t mean to be rude, but you seem so much more interested in Maya...”

Elys smiles, nodding. “Itsss true, I do prefer girlsss. And Maya isss amazing. She isss devoted to Josh more than anything. I love her, and truthfully, I love him too. He isss the only man that I’ve felt worth my time.”

Sadie smiles. She felt the same way, even with her short time there so far. And with her growing feelings for Josh also came growing feelings for all the girls. The reason she wanted to ask this of Elys is that the gorgon sometimes seemed like she wanted to be with only Maya.

Elys wasn’t finished answering, however. “The truth isss, I wasss exiled here againssst my will. And then I wasss given a job. A bodyguard for a human and hisss two girlsss. The human obviously wasss Josh, with Maya and Anna. At the time, I only agreed sssince I had nothing elssse to do. Women only very rarely sssponsssor girlsss so the arrival center. Ssso I agreed, and fell for Maya immediately. She isss the one who convinced me to give Josh a chance. Asss usssual, Maya was right. He isss an incredible man, both asss a person and in bed...”

Sadie is surprised to see Elys blush. Seeing the serious facade crack a bit is the most beautiful thing she has seen in a while. Impulsively, she leans in and kisses Elys on the cheek. Elys touches her cheek in surprise, looking over at the smiling djinn.

“What wasss that for?”

“You were blushing, it was super cute! And to thank you for sharing all that, I’m sure it was hard. You know, when I first got here, you scared me.”

“Really? Why isss that?”

“You’re so serious, and so elegant. Beautiful too, and I was worried I would seem like an idiot to you. I didn’t want anyone here do dislike me. But you’re amazing, Elys!”

Elys stops, looking at Sadie for a moment before smiling. “You’re sssmarter than you let on, Sssadie. Jussst because you are happy and bouncy and sssilly, that doesssn’t mean you’re dumb. I don’t think anyone who knowsss you could dissslike you!”

With a happy laugh, Sadie hugs Elys, drawing a surprised squeak from the gorgon.

“Oh, thank you Elys! You’re like the big sister I never had! Oooh, except I want to have sex with you. Sexy big sister! Oooh, I wonder if Josh would think that’s hot...”

Elys laughs, shaking her head.
