Go to the apartment hallway

The hallway is about fifty feet long, with two doors on each side and one at each end. The door to your apartment is one of the end ones. The walls are a very pale green, the doors and their frames a moderately dark green, and the carpet checked dark green and white. In the middle of the corridor on the wall to your right is the door to the elevator and, opposite it, a heavy metal fire door labeled “Stairs.”
