The attack.

Arerto had gone up to the top of one of the towers and looked out across the plains to see the enemy. 5000 men marching towards her position kicking up dust. As she scanned the enemy she called the commander and while she waited she continued to scan. When the commander arrived she told him to look and tell what was absent in the enemy formation and as he looked he replied. "Just infantry no archers"

Arerto had 5 archers placed at each barricade. Once advantage that she held was either side of the main road was water logged ground which should they try advance would slow them down. The enemy advanced and as expected they decided against the water logged ground so funneled down the middle. When in range the archers on the towers were order to let loose their arrows.

Arrow flew through the air striking the first ranks killing around 20 men as they advanced. They kept coming being squeezed into the funnel and the archers kept firing but were not doing enough damage. They reached the barricade and started to push but Arerto's infantry were holding. Arerto herself was down in the ranks her sword swinging as the enemy kept coming.

Eventually with such heavy odds the barricade failed and the enemy flowed in aiming for Arerto and her commander. One blade was headed for Arerto's head but the commander seeing it come flung himself in front of the blade thus taking the mortal blow. Arerto was back against a wall with no where to retreat to and completely surrounded. Arrows again flew as the attackers raised there swords to strike when?
