Chasing the Truth

“You just going to stand there staring?” she says tossing out her Mawile. The battle starting brings you back to life. Mawile of course, it will be a tough battle but luckily Trapinch has type advantage. You throw out your pokemon. “Oh, no not a ground type,” Ashley says with a roll of her eyes.

You try your best to ignore her teasing. You’ve had plenty of practice growing up with Blue. “Bulldoze,” you command, Trapinch following through with a wall of ground flying at Mawile. With a surprising burst of speed, she dodges Trapinch’s attack. You launch attack after attack, but her pokemon easily dodges everything.

“Night slash.” Mawile slashes through your partner causing massive damage. Trapinch is hit several times unable to dodge Mawile’s flurry of blows.

“Sand tomb,” you shout out **** to turn the battle around. The flurry of sand finally manages to hit Ashley’s pokemon. Your jaw drops in amazement when you see Mawile shimmer before being replaced by a Zoroark. The pokemon giving a sly smile about being discovered.

“Oh, you found out my secret. Too bad it’s too late,” she laughs before Zoroark lands a critical night slash. Trapinch collapses on the ground, she’s beat you.

“Ashley Ketchum of Celadon City is the victor. Amber of Pallet Town has 1 loss. 5 minutes will be afforded the sexual forfeit.”

“No need, I’ve got places to be. The snatch bandit will have to get her fill elsewhere,” Ashley says turning to leave the battle spot.

You return Trapinch to his ball, realizing that she’s getting away. By the time you make it off the stage, you’ve lost sight of her. You didn’t even get a picture of her. You frantically look around, trying to catch a glimpse of her. Through the crowd you see her raven ponytail, she’s making her way towards the entrance. Perfect, you can chase her and meet up with Daisy outside.

“Where you going in such a hurry?” John catches you off guard with your focus solely dedicated to following Ashley.

You stop for a second staring at John and Jack standing together, “I found her.” You turn to keep following her, waving for them to follow you. “A. Ketchum. Her name is Ashley, I found Daisy’s sister.”

“Did you get a picture?” John asks as the three of you make your way through the crowd.

“No, I was busy battling her. But I’ve met her before. Remember the goth girl from Vermilion I told you about, it’s her.”

“The one who had the weird battle with Surge?” Jack asks following close on your heels.

“Yea, that’s the one,” you answer as you exit the building. “Daisy have you seen a girl, black hair with a faceful of piercings?”

“She went that way,” she says pointing down the street. You can just make out her black outfit as she rounds a corner. “Why?”

“She’s your sister, Ashley Ketchum,” you answer taking off after her.

The four of you make your way down the street, turning where you saw her turn. “Shit, my next battle,” John says holding up his phone.

“Go, we’ve got this,” you say waving him off. “Good luck.”

“There,” Jack points as Ashley rounds anther corner.

“Ashley!” you shout down the street as you catch sight of her again. She takes a glance over her shoulder, before continuing on her way. Your group continues the pursuit of Daisy’s sister.

“Why isn’t she stopping? She saw us,” Jack says.

“She’s kind of mean, and doesn’t really like me,” you admit.

Your hurried pace is slowly catching up on the leisurely walk of the prey. She takes a sudden turn into an alley, and the group directly follows her. Your breath catches as a hand wraps around your throat slamming you against the bricks of the building. “You want to tell me why your group of lesbos is following me?” Ashley says holding you against the wall.

Your air supply being cut off by her firm grasp. You see Daisy and Jack being held by two big men dressed in black with red R’s on their chest. The men covering their mouths to prevent any calls for help or screams of terror. You recognize the symbol from your run in with Black Jack, they’re Team Rocket. You try to talk, but only a few strangled sounds manage to escape.

You can see the flame of anger behind her eyes, the same look you grew up fearing when you saw it in Blue’s eyes. She loosens her hold just enough to let you speak, your breaths barely making it through. “We, we,” you decide to cut straight to the point, “your dad.”

Ashley’s fury burns brighter, “You don’t want to find him. Just like you shouldn’t follow strangers into dark alleys.”

“We going to get rid of them, boss?” the guy holding Daisy asks.

Ashley lets go of you, and you fall to your knees gasping for every breath you can get. “No, I don’t think we’ll have to worry about them making any more dumb choices.” She reaches into her bag, pulling out a handful of small baggies each holding a small black pill. “I thought we might just leave them with a free trial though,” she says taking a pill out.

The man holding Jack moves his hand, letting Ashley slip the pill into her mouth. She repeats the process with Daisy. Before kneeling in front of you, forcing a final pill into your mouth. You try to spit it out, but she covers your mouth forcing you to eventually swallow. You feel a warmth sweeping over you. “What was that?” you ask as the Team Rocket members start walking away.
