“Wait,” you say, before Gerald leaves. “There's something I think you should know. I'm - I'm not sure this whole thing is really voluntary for you. I mean, some of the things I heard...” you falter.
“Tell me,” Gerald demands, curious now. And you do. You tell him about the conversations between Gregor and Mr. Ling. You tell him about what Mr. Ling said just after he fucked you this morning. “What does it mean?” you ask.
“I'm not sure,” Gerald says after a moment. “I'm going to have to think about this. For one thing, I'm going to do some research on this Mr. Ling. I'll get back in touch with you when I have a better idea what's happening, and have a way out for you.”
He disappears. If only you could do that too, you think ruefully.
