Chapter 253 by [KingDucky] [KingDucky]

What's next?

A Cellular Summoning

All was well and good until of course until you told Diana why it was that you'd come to get her in the first place.

After spending a couple of hours, helping pack Diana's things (And sobering up, you didn't want to drive while under the influence with a pregnant woman... god that wasn't ever going to feel normal)

Diana was as open as you'd ever known her to be, talking about her worry of being a mother, about how she'd do everything to keep him save and be at his side, unlike your mother and father could for their different reasons.

She flew through doubt, worry, excitement, whether it was the weed or just the flurry of emotions that drove her, You only smiled, trying to get a grasp on this sudden occurrence yourself.

After you were confident that you weren't going to kill yourselves on the drive home, You helped Diana carry her heavy suitcases into your car, much to her protest "I'm not fragile just yet, I can do it myself."

The quiet on short drive back home however, was consumed with Your sister's quietly looking out at the city fly by, and through your connection, you knew exactly why. Diana didn't look happy when you told her, Artorias would be staying home for good this time, she always had taken your grandfather's poor state of mind quite badly... but now... with what you both knew, the thought of him not comprehending the complicated joy of the situation, it ate away at your insides "H-He'll... understand." You tried to say in consolation.

She folded her arms, continuing to watch the towering black buildings, taking in the sound of cars passing, until you pulled through the black gates and into the drive of your beautiful home.

Arm in arm, you walked up to the front door, and pushed open the doors inside for her.

The Sound of music immediately caught against your enhanced ears, and you sighed "Someone's showing off."

Diana smiled at the sound of your Pop's flawless Piano notes "What's he doing in there?"

Together you moved into the lounge, and as you smiled at the site before you, Diana frowned deeply.

Jane danced around, laughing and smiling as Your grandfather played firecely on the piano, the room echoing with the smooth grove of his talent "Sunny! yesterday my life was filled with rain. Sunny, you smiled at me and really eased the pain. The dark days are gone, and the bright days are here, My Sunny one shines so sincere. Sunny one so true, I love yooooou!" She sang terribly along with the tune, giggling as Pops smiled.

Diana folded her arms as you chuckled at the sight, Jane catching your sister's eyes and halting immediately in her tracks.

Pops paused, turning his grey head to spot his Grandson and daughter "Ahhh, there you are." He said standing up with Jane's help, the Brown beauty helping him walk over as Diana stared darkly at Jane. The Old man however only pointed at you "You are late." He grumbled, you stuck your tongue out again.

But Pops smiled as He looked at Diana, the Raven haired beauty smiling back, drawing him into a long hug "And you are the most beautiful young woman I have ever seen!" He cried happily.

Diana returned his hug tightly "I missed you, Pops."

"Why? We saw each other yesterday, didn't we?" He asked confusedly "...No, you were a lot smaller? how old are you now, Girl?"

Her smile became slightly sad "29, Pops."

He raised an eyebrow as he began to sniff at the air, looking at you, then at her, then at her belly. Your fingers began to fiddle nervously with the buttons on your collar. "Strange... you smell, like a child?"

Diana looked as if she would speak, but her eyes lingered on Jane, who refused to make eye-contact with her.

"Why don't I go and make us some coffee, Pops?" You asked a little coyly.

The Old man's face wrinkled even more than it already was "What? are you calling me helpless!? don't think this old man can still make himself a coffee!? I don't think so sunny jim, I shall make myself, and this lovely dancing young lady a coffee. pft frail old man am I?" He said grumbling all the way to the Kitchen.

You smiled with satisfaction, _"That trick is even older than he is, stubborn old bastard." _Your Dad used to say... You were going to be good father, to your boy, and to Rose's twins, you'd be the man that they needed, that was a promise that not even god himself could refute.

"Sorry, He is really good on that Piano." Jane chuckled, looking a little grim under Diana's stare.

"I'm surprised you didn't harass him to ****. Ms Watson." Diana growled.

Oh shit.

Jane frowned "Hello to you to." She folded her arms.

You couldn't cut this tension with a diamond tipped drill, what the fuck was going on "Have you two... met before?" You asked in confusion.

Diana had a look of brief recognition "Yes... we um, met." She was hiding something again, that was clear.

Jane raised an eyebrow, placing her hands on her hips "We met, when you vanished, obviously when you woke up briefly from your coma, she's clearly hiding something." Jane was blunt, and as much as you appreciated knowing that, you were pretty sure that Diana looked like she was about to tear her apart.

"I don't see why it is that you continue to poke around our private family business." Diana growled.

Jane's eyes narrowed "Yeah, well I'm sorry that I actually give a shit about Charlie, unlike some-"

Diana moved forward, she was a head taller than Jane "Don't you dare."

But Jane Watson never ever backed down "Don't I dare what, Care? All I ever heard for the past seven years is how much you people vexed him! Your Dad treated him like hell, and you..." You could tell that the Warrior in Diana was just about ready to show herself if you hadn't stepped in that was.

"Alright that's enough!" You cut in, stepping between them. Jane looked at you for support, Diana too, neither received it "You are way outta line." You said to Jane. "And You, I don't care if you've met and don't like each other, whatever this is, it's ending before it even begins."

"But-" they both started

"No buts. That is the end of it, Now can we please sit down and relax before my head explodes."

You sat the two down, both as unwilling to speak or lock eyes as the other. Pops came in with the coffee, somehow not spilling them with his shaking hands, and the four of you talked.

Or, you and Pops talked while Jane and Diana scowled at nothing. "So, what did you need, Diana for Pops?" You asked.

He rubbed his chin, sipped his coffee before turning up his hearing aid "What?"

You and Diana sighed "What did you need me for Grandpa? you asked Charlie to come get me?"

His nodded "Well shit. Probably should have written that one down." He thought allowed.

There was a collective groan "Okay... well, Diana is gonna be staying here from now on so, I guess we'll just have to wait until it comes to you."

"She's... staying here?" Jane asked.

Diana glowered "You got a problem with that?"

You pointed at them both "I'm warning you, I'll burn this fucking place down and we'll all live in the homeless shelter, if we don't start getting along."

"You will not, I did not spend my entire life looking after this place only for you to, fucking burn it down. Plus your father will skin us all alive." Pops said absently "Now, apparently the only competent member of this family isn't here, so why don't you call her and sort whatever all of this is out?"

You frowned "I am not just calling Hilde here, Pops."

The Old man lent back in the chair, smiling to himself "Very well. don't heed my hundreds of years of wisdom."

"Hundreds?" Jane asked.

"He's senile-- Pops I am not just calling Hilde here, I'm calling everyone here, Now do me a favour and make sure this guy doesn't swallow his teeth while I make some calls."

It was Pop's turn to stick his tongue out at you now.

Leaving Jane with your fucked up family, you stood in the hallway, making a bunch of calls to whoever you thought relevant.

There was a feeling in the air nowadays, Wallace wasn't exactly heaven but lately there had been something in the air, maybe it was the amnesia, or perhaps you thought, projecting things out into the world around you... No, their was a smell on the breeze, like a storm crawling along the horizon, threatening to blot out all normality. You were hardly normal right now, you were filled with so much energy, so much fire, and it was eating you up inside.

How where you such a pussy before? the thought of running head first into battle felt so right, now, everything else felt stale and stagnant in comparison to the monster that growled inside.

Then again, the people of Wallace and yourself had changed over the past week, tensions were high, rumours of increased crime and **** played on the Radio on the way to East Wallace, Lockdown had just ended and the chaos that came with Jormungandr was near too much for the small military presence in the city to bare.

But what was this thing, that had ruined your city? your home? ...You intended to find out, and to make some very important changes along the way.

Belle agreed to be there in half an hour, just as enthusiastically as she took any of your orders, although she seemed hesitant when you asked her to bring as many of the Mansion staff as she could.

Moonie was pleasantly surprised to hear from you, you'd gotten her number from Belle, and agreed softly to come as soon as she could get Hughie to stop wearing her.... his Pepsi man Costume... Jesus those two where gonna be a handful.

You called Boris, you called Cherry, you even considered calling Izzy... then remembering that having a witch around four Descendant warriors, well three and a crazy old has-been, was probably not the best Idea.

Hilde seemed suspect when you called her "What do you mean, you just need me there? what are you hiding?"

"Just-- please, come here as soon as you can. Diana is here and so's Pops."

There was quiet on the other side of the line for a moment "Very well, I will stop by, but whatever you're trying to hide better not get in the way of training." She warned.

You smiled "Thank you, Mentor."

"Yeah, yeah, See you in a while, Chip."

Your eyes lingered over the final name on your contacts list, whether You should actually call her or not, or if she'd even answer, it was probably not worth it, yeah... just give her some space and time and--

"That's enough of that."

A perfectly manicured finger touched the name on your phone causing it to immediately call. You jolted, seeing Belle's smiling form beside you "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? W-WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!?" You cried.

"Hello?" A small voice called from the phone.

Belle gave you a wink, nudging you and mouthing "Answer then!"

Scowling at her, you pressed the Phone to your ear. "H-Hello?" You said softly.

"Hi." Rose answered softly.

"I uh... It's nice to hear your voice." There wasn't an immediate answer.

"Thank you." this wasn't really getting anywhere.

"So... How are you feeling, eating alright? how are the Twins?" Jesus, it seemed that no matter how much Fire you had inside, when it came to Rose, you were still just a nervous fool.

"Why did you call me, Charlie?"

You sighed, looking at Belle who urged you on softly. "I need you to come here."

"I told you that I think we should... give each other some space."

"And I'm telling you now that if I don't see you there, then I will personally come and get you and bring you here myself." You said adamantly.

"Charlie..." The way she spoke your name, it gave you chills "...I'll think about it."

Your eyes became dark. "Rose. I don't know what you people are hiding from me. what you're trying to hide from me. But I need you here, please."

But Rose had already hung up.
