An interesting conversation

The walk home was uneventful, the few stares and muttered comments easy to ignore with Maya happily walking beside you. The conversation with Daisy had a profound effect on the dragon girl.

“Josh, I want to ask you, are we headed towards that kind of future? I know we are having fun, and I mean that with all possible innuendo,” Maya giggles before continuing, “but I hope we end up like Daisy’s son. I want to keep getting closer with you...”

You nod giving her hand a squeeze. “I wasn’t sure what to expect when I met you, and I definitely didn’t expect to jump right into bed, but I’m not going to turn down a beautiful woman when she throws herself at me.”

Maya blushes, “I was a little bit eager, I know. I would blame this whole ‘bonding’ instinct, but the thing is, that’s only part of it. I told you about my...loss, the things that drove me here, but what pushed me towards you is more complicated.”

“Part of it is wanting what I saw with my parents, they were like two halves of the same person, and I never saw them together without this...aura of happiness. From the moment I met you, I felt like you were the one who could give me that feeling. I never felt that from other sponsors, which is probably why I spent so long at the Arrival Center.”

“I know that sounds like fairy tale thinking, but so far I’m happier than I’ve ever been since I lost my mom...”

You put your arm around her shoulders and she moves closer as you walk. Maya smiles and continues, “There’s more to it though. I want to have a family. I don’t mean kids, well, not yet” she laughs, “ What I mean is, I want you to be my mate, and I want more around us. It’s hard to explain, almost an instinct. It feels like with more women around you I feel more secure. I know it doesn’t make much sense, but from what I understand, it has to do with bonding with someone after going through the portal. I guess Rachel could explain better.”

You nod, “She mentioned something to that effect during my interview, apparently it makes monster girls like being in a harem.”

“I suppose it’s a bit weird in this world,” Maya giggles, “but that’s fine! I like girls almost as much as I like you...so more girls around you sounds fun!”

You smile, “It feels greedy to think about that so soon after sponsoring you! Let’s spend some more time together before I become some sort of harem lord, ok?”

The dragon girl laughs, “Oh of course, I wasn’t suggesting we start today! I’m just trying to express my feelings about our whole...thing.”

You nod. “Maya, I appreciate it. We’ve been moving very quickly, and I didn’t expect to fall for someone in a matter of days! But here we are, acting like we’ve known each other for years. If that doesn’t speak to the bond we’re forming, I don’t know what would. Time will tell, but I don’t regret anything, and I’m excited to grow closer every day. Sometimes the storybook romance comes true.”

Maya sighs happily as the two of you walk in contented silence the rest of the way home.
