Chapter 3
by Moot
Does Vanessa go in cocky or open-minded?
Mrs Hatherford's School for the Mentally Challenged
Vanessa looked up at the entrance to the school, a small set of stone stairs leading up to two brown double doors. A large plaque on the left side of the door read: "Mrs Hatherford's School for the Mentally Challenged." Vanessa sighed, she already knew this sentence was gonna be a drag, but she still thought it would be better than prison.
Vanessa strutted up the steps, keeping her head held high. She pushed the double doors open with both her hands, making a grand entrance. The interior was not what Vanessa had been expecting. From the outside, the school looked old, with the stone carved exterior it looked as though it was once a cathedral. On the inside, however, the building had been given a modern look. With blue carpet going across the floor of the reception, modern lights and ceiling were above. There was no stone cathedral designs to be seen indoors.
A woman was sitting behind a glass screen by the entrance, Vanessa assumed this was the receptionist. Vanessa approached the window, the lady was currently on the phone. She had ginger hair, which Vanessa immediately picked up on and wanted to bully this woman for still having ginger hair.
Vanessa patiently waited for the receptionist, clearing her throat as a gesture for her to hang up. "Hi how can I help you?" The receptionist asked Vanessa, after she finally finished her phone call. "I've been told to come here, names Vanessa Sinclair?" Vanessa responded sassily, expecting the woman to recognise her.
The receptionist stared at Vanessa blankly for a moment, which irritated the former CEO. She quickly glanced down to some paperwork, flicking through different sheets of paper. "Ah! You're prison avoider! Chose to do the time with us eh? Well can't say I'd choose here if I were in your boots but to each their own I guess." The woman commented. "Honey, with that hair you'll never be in these shoes." Vanessa passive aggressively responded to the receptionist.
The receptionist ignored Vanessa's rude comment, it hurt her feelings but she wasn't gonna let Vanessa see that. "Mrs Hatherford is in the office behind me, just take a right and sit on the chairs outside her office." The receptionist explained. Vanessa didn't even bother to respond, she just nodded and walked round the corner and sat on the chairs outside a door labelled "Mrs Hatherford: Headmistress."
The receptionist sent a quick email to Mrs Hatherford, letting her know that Vanessa had arrived.
