[KingDucky]
What's next?
Return of the fire
Jane's fingers shook as she ran them through her hair, quivering while trying to get a hold of herself. She thought she had too much adrenaline huh?
You were vibrating, unable to stay still, your golden eyes darting around wildly.
"You're eyes are gold, Charlie!?" She whispered fearfully.
You looked at her madly, trying to look reassuring "Just like Old times huh? I think I can get us to Daisy before my heart explodes." You said in a grunty although rather casual voice, twitching and smiling as your entire body began to burn.
"Your heart explodes... tell me that's just a weird Vampire Euphamism." She pleaded.
You shook your head, your eyes turning bloodshot "It's called Overdrive, it overstimulates my blood cells and supercharges my adrenaline pool, my entire body becomes superhuman, but it also destroys my internal organs and causes complete collapse after too long... This is the first time I've actually used it for real, I can feel it rinsing out my lungs... It's getting h-hard to breath." You admitted
"You're breathing really fast..." She tried to touch you but a spark zapped between you.
"Stay back! STAY BACK! I really love you, I really love you okay..." You admitted, her eyes going soft as she frowned at herself "...I don't want to hurt you, oh did I mention that it overstimulates your brain, it's probably why I'm telling the truth so much, stay back though, with me being a big zappy thing I could hurt ya... hehe... yeah... i'mma zappy thing." You said a little dully, your eyes sinking in your sockets, making you look like a sloth.
"Are you okay, dude?" She asked as you hunched over the well, pulling into the Main highstreet.
"Hehe, Zappy boy. ye" You grumbled.
Jane struggled to help you walk as you burned red "Ugh, you're so heavy, where are we going?"
"It's... it's... Monday so... That pet shop." You pointed weakly to the pet shop across the street.
She growled as the two of you struggled to cross the road and then into the petite shop.
Jane burst in, carrying your blooded, bruised self as Jan struggled with her good arm in a sling. However, in the very small shop, with a ceiling a little to close to comfort, you watched as the lady behind the counter blinked at you, soft music playing in the background as in the corner, Daisy cooed over a tiny blonde German Shepard "OOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW looook at yewwww!" She screamed in a whisper, picking up the cute puppy and mushing her face into its belly "ur soo cute, yiiis, ur super dooper cute aren't you!"
You twitched at this sight, and Jane stared with confused eyes "Daisy!" You called weakly.
She looked at you and smiled quickly "Hi Chippy, OOOOOOOWWWWWWW KITTENS!!!!" She was obviously distracted. frolicking in the Kitten enclosure, where they actually seemed to be happily playing with her... Jesus Christ were you in a relationship with a Dhampir Disney princess?
Though eventually, stopped and her eyes shot open, she dashed out of the enclosure, bumping her head "Ow!" She cried, putting her Bonnet back on as the Owner scowled.
"Jesus, Chica you have hit your head on the ceiling twelve times, just buy a pet and leave!!!" She cried in her thick Spanish gusto.
Daisy paid no mind, she only walked up to the both of you, and looked forlorn at your injuries "Come on, Belle's bar is just across the road... come on Yawl, it's gonna be okay." She wrapped her powerful arms around you and guided you both to safety.
You didn't feel quite conscious for a moment, you kept fading in and out. You felt like a pulsating wound, one big flurry of pain... but it seemed, Overdrive had stopped.
Barely able to take in full breaths, you sat in the Backroom of the Rattle, Belle crying as Daisy pulled the pieces of tooth out of your fists "THIS IS TOTALLY NOT FABULOUS! M-Master, h-how could this happen?"
You stared out of a wide swollen eye, your legs rapidly tapping as you jittered, unable to stay still as the embers of Overdrive still lingered in your blood, rattling your bones "Have you ever felt anything like this is incredible I mean it's fucking awful but I feel like I can take over the fucking world right know what I mean? Daisy? Jane? Jane? Know what I mean?" You fired bullshit out of your mouth like a fucking battling gun as Daisy took your hands and pushed them into a cold bucket of ice water, making you chuckle and your eye twitch.
Jane opened your good eyes, looking at the dark red stain in the whites of your eyes "He's burst a blood vessel, Are you sure that there isn't internal damage?" She asked Daisy.
Daisy rubbed some cream on your eyes, and gave you a flask "Drink it, Honey." She insisted.
You looked at the red liquid, smelt it and shivered "No." You frowned.
Belle oozed in, crouching beside you "It's just a little blood, Chip... it won't harm to try-"
You threw it aside, watching it paint her wall. oozing down the concrete "No. Blood." You growled.
Daisy huffed "Fine, then I'll get to cooking up some Balms, a depressant aaaand, some Pain killers that should do it." Daisy said as she moved over to her back to ready her portable alchemy kit.
The Club was on early today, to celebrate Jormungandr's departure... You didn't feel like right now was a good time to celebrate.
Slowly the Pain really began to sink in, you felt... smaller, weaker, though that was only a feeling, power still crept through your veins.
You grasped Belle as Daisy helped Jane with her arm "Do not. Call. My Aunt."
Belle looked guilty. Well... shit.
It only took Hilde the time it takes a man to find his keys and get in his car to bust down that door.
And you do mean Bust the thing down, there were shards of Wood everywhere, as golden eyes peered from the shadows.
Peering up from your bracing positions behind the couch and bed, you blinked and Remhilde appeared before you, grasping your entire body with one arm and holding your brused form in the air. "H-HILDE WHAT THE FUCK."
Her eyes darkened as she seethed with wrath "Do you have any idea how many calls I've had this morning... during My Afternoon siesta?"
We are going to die.
"....yup."
Nothing. Nothing interrupted Your Aunt Hilda's Monday afternoon Siesta. Nothing.
You smiled evilly, it made your face hurt. Quickly clicking your finger, distracted her enough for you to shake her grip, spinning down to the ground, you reached out to strike, wide-eyed she blocked, though was thrown back by the ****, her heels digging into the ground as you both drew your weapons.
"M'halia." With a cut of your forearm, Lugh flared to life, its fiery blade pointing at your arm as she stomped her foot and whipped her arms backwards, The Twin Omen Gauntlets and Boots, Artemis and Hermes swept over her arms and legs, the shiny, bladed talons pointing at you in an equal stance of power.
Hilde smiled "You've got your Fire, back?"
You extinguished Lugh inside of its sheath. "Of course I did, I said I promised didn't I?" You said nonchalantly, resting your blade on your shoulder as you sat back beside a frightened Daisy.
Hilde frowned "That fight could have jeopardised everything we are working for-"
"You're overreacting, I have things under control." You cut in... you felt very different, they could all sense it.
She moved closer, and peered into your eyes "Gold." She whispered, looking at Belle then Daisy who shifted uncomfortably.
You frowned, the figure in the Blue sea, at the top of a harsh climb, you still didn't know if you wanted to take.
"I will see you tomorrow." You said as Daisy hesitantly began to stitch your arm back up.
"Don't you need more time for your injuries?" She asked pettily.
"Tomorrow is all I need." You said certainly.
She looked at you like she was almost tempted... "I'd expect nothing less." She turned and left, though not before knocking Belle out of the way "Get outta my way, fucking Leech."
You frowned at that, and gestured Belle over "I'm sorry, she'll up to you. Come here." You said.
Belle knelt at your side and embraced you tightly as you smiled "Y-You look like you got beaten up by a gang of trucks." She whispered, Your Belle would have killed those boys if she was there... you nearly did so yourself.
"It's alright, look, we can go shopping this week?"
She peered up, frowning "I'm not a child you know." though light slowly rose in her face and she exploded with joy "Fabulous, oooh, I love you!" She mushed her lips into yours, it hurt but you really really didn't give a fuck.
Daisy groaned "Can we have a say in who he kisses?" She asked Jane who blinked.
"We... haven't kissed in a while actually." She flushed grumpily.
You parted from Belle who bit her lips as your noses touched "No fighting please, Ladies, I can safely say that I've suffered enough today." You chuckled, Belle, helping you up.
Jane looked hopefully at you "Now what?" She asked, with that look in her eyes.
You pecked Belle's lips and then kissed Daisy's cheek "I think I'll skip school today, mind If Jane and I go ahead alone, we have some things to discuss." You could tell this whole, Harem thing made Daisy a little uncomfortable, not much you could do about that now except for being kind and patient.
Daisy folded her arms, but nodded "Just relax a little, let the balms do their work, try and take it easy." She pleaded
You felt the shimmering hunger burn, it was older than Overdrive, and stronger "I promise." You whispered, walking over and taking Jane's arm. "...Do me a favour though, keep an eye on Belle's phone for me?" You smiled.
Daisy nodded and Belle put on an unamused smirk.
It was a nice evening, so you got an Uber up to the Southside of Wallace, to the forest leading to the Beach. She held your arm tightly as you walked through the soft underbrush, leaves crushed under your shoes, and the wind smelt of salt on the air.
The Sun shone through the collated branches above, sprinkling the landscape of dark mahogany and warm brown in rays of Amber light.
though the dirt soon became thin, and whisper, until it was nothing but dust, the sand was dark as the rock that surrounded it, there was mostly Iron and Coal in these hills all the way up to Shawick March, but along the Wallacite coast was Wyrm-tooth Bay, famous for its legendary black beach.
The sand was a brownish-Grey from the forest, but as arm in arm with jane, you walked along the man-made platform down to the beach, you walked on the chalky limestone breach of the cliff's upper wall, it wasn't a long way down, but the white limestone contrasted on the pitch-black Sand that glittered in the low light of the evening sun.
The Windswept through your hair... the White streaks were white no longer, but pitch black, making your hair a strange mix of Black and Brown. But you held Jane close, looking out at the Atlantic ocean, a vast mass of blue.
The Atlantic wind was gentle today, you were thankful for that, it allowed you and Jane to settle on a cool sheet of Limestone on the ridge, where you could talk and watch the waves smash into the rock below.
"Ugh, I really need to get away from the world!" She chuckled as she fell, grabbing you so that you both fell on the soft sands, you both oww and checked over your wounds then chuckled, her form shifting closer to you. "You're so different." Her hands touched your chest, your hair "You look so strong now like you're ready to take over America." She whispered.
You shuffled in, closer "Try the world. There are dark things out there Jane, you know that now, but we have to break them before they can make their move."
She nodded, her fingers entwining with you "I need you to Love me again... properly this time, no takesbacksies. I am not ever leaving your side again, understand?"
You grinned "I understand."
Jane nodded, leaning forward and pecking your lips, lingering for a while "I need you to know that I am a monster... I don't always have my faculties, so if it comes to a point where You're mine and nothing anybody can say will stop me from having you kicks in, don't be surprised." You explained casually.
Her eyebrows creased "What? what do you mean own me?" She asked a little sheepishly.
feeling your ravenous hunger, you grasped her waist and pulled her in close "I mean Own you, like my own personal object, my little fuck ****, that's that I mean by owning you." You said bluntly and darkly.
She seemed starstruck... in shock, unsure of what to say, You shrugged it off, picking her up and helping her back along the path, it wasn't a long walk to home from there.
You carried Jane up the drive and into the mansion, the Reception desk was empty again, so you had to buzz yourself in. Pushing closed the heavy doors behind you, you looked up to the illustrious foyer... damn your home was even more beautiful than you remembered it, it was good to be home.
Moving upstairs quietly, you were thankful to find your dad's room empty.
Jane groaned as you placed her on your bed, tucking her in as she shifted dozily "I-I'm awake..." She protested.
"Just rest for a moment, it's been an exhausting day." You whispered, her eyes fluttered open and shut before she slumped into a stubborn sleep.
You weren't sure how you felt about this... well, mesmerisation you supposed, there was no other name for it... this was a vampire's power, Vampires drew their power from the lifeblood of others, for once, you didn't want to know what that meant for You.
Jolting, you pulled your phone out of your pocket in panic, the ringtone: Hotline Bling, was far too loud on your ears and you quickly answered, holding the phone safely away to stop the voice that came through from deafening you.
However, the person you spoke was not one you knew, in your hurry to shut the Ringtone up you'd forsaken looking at the Caller ID "Hello... is this Charles Roman Drake?" A woman asked the voice was familiar... a very bored receptionist sat in your Pop's nursing home sprung forth.
"That's me. Is something wrong?" Your voice was low and unamused... When the Nursing calls with Hotline bling... that can only mean one thing.
"I do not mean to panic you, Mr Drake, but it appears that Your grandfather has-"
"--Vanished without a trace?" You cut in, rubbing your eyes in frustration.
"Mr Drake if your grandfather continues to escape the property then we will be **** to move him into a state home." The Girl explained rather boredly, and rather sassily.
Artorias Drake, your grandfather was a patient and incredibly intelligent man, it's why over the eight years that he'd been in and out of nursing homes, that no matter how hard the staff tried, no matter how many guards there were, He... He...
"We will no longer require your services." You said bluntly, you'd had enough of the smell of **** and antiseptic in that building and you'd only been there a handful of time, you couldn't imagine how much your senile Grandpa would have hated that place being stuck there for a year.
The Girl actually seemed shocked, her voice silent on the other end of the line "W-We don't wish to lose your Custom, Mr Drake, Artorias is happy here, we merely made a hiccup-"
"The Only hiccup, that's been made here, was putting my Pop's in that oversized Bleech bottle for old crazies in the first place. I will have my secretary contact you with any necessary details." You were being a little cold... come on Charlie, she was only doing her job, plus you doubted any person aspired to be a Receptionist for the rest of their life.
Wow, self-R/Whoosh... very rare.
"B-But sir, you don't even know where he is?" She asked, sounding a little timider now.
You smiled "You have a nice night now."
tucking the smooth glass of your phone into your pocket, the sigh that came then was exhausted and pained, your entire body ached, it was starting to become taxing to even stand, you would have taken a short rest with Jane in bed then... if something didn't feel... off.
Things were dark and cold in that room, staring out of the window, you watched the sun fall, the daylight fading into azure, oozing into the blackness of night.
You knew something was wrong, the unlatched window waved, and the curtains fluttered... something lurked in the air, a smell or... maybe a taste, though each was unique in their own right, the two blending together unnaturally.
The Taste was strange, soft... like fresh orange juice mixed with something harsh, Iron maybe? but the smell, was unmistakeably perfume, one you knew that Jane would never wear.
The gentle, fragrant scent continued down the hall, it was so pungent, that your Supernatural eyes could almost see the trail leading into the Lounge where you paused, sniffing at the air... as a knowing smile crept up your face.
The Longue was a rarely visited place these days, your Father used to Host events at the Manor, though He eventually lost the taste for it, Roman Drake got colder and colder with age and let's just say that Wallace's Opulent in society didn't take kindly to his polices that syphoned their wealth into the pockets of the poor. Still, you remember being a little kid, running around those parties where everybody would smile and talk to you, you remembered how powerful Roman looked. Tall and strong, and proud... you wanted to be him, you wanted to sit in that armchair where He sat... with your Grandfather in the chair next to it, where the Old man would sit and smoke his strange foreign herbs that made the air taste like strange fruit.
Welp... there was no time like the present.
The Illustrious lounge's hearth blazed, painting the Snow-white carpet glowing in the light of the orange flames, as the red embers in the heart of the long mahogany pipe glowed Crimson, wrinkled, although very skilled hands held it tight like a lover.
The Old man hummed as He blew grey smoke into the mouth of the flame, watching the crackling fires dance with the smoke.
Stepping over into the warmth, you touched the arm of your father's chair and sat down in the leather chair, taking a deep breath of the smokey air before relaxing back.
"That is a one of a kind wingback, Blonde Lacquered Polar bear skin Armchair, fashioned in October 15th 1899. Your Father and I were... Hunting something, I recall that quite clearly... three weeks on the ice we spent, with distant family relations of ours, He was so proud then, such an arrogant boy, We saw a bear in the storms of Snow and hate, He loved bears ever since He was young, a deep fascination with monsters..." Pops spoke in a low tone, his eyes of pale gold reflecting the fire that He stared into with such Mystery.
"He liked that Bear so much that He tracked it 30 miles across the Antarctic, with nothing but Lugh and the clothes on his back... by the time he came back to camp He was bloody, had a wound the size of a Tire in his chest, but He had that Ivory Pelt... it's all that mattered...."
You frowned as you looked at him, in this trance-like state, eyes wide... He sounded, almost, like himself... "Why are you telling me this?"
His eyes finally broke from the flames, and as those orbs turned to you, a deep sense of dread filled you to your core "...Because I didn't watch that idiot sit so proudly in that chair for god knows how many years so that You could slouch in it like a hoodlum."
You shot up, grinning nervously "S-Sorry... Pops."
He nodded, sitting up straight, His grey, old fashioned checkered suit holding onto his boney form tightly, His Silvery thin hair slicked back neatly under his matching fedora. He pulled from his pipe again as He nodded at the flames, looking a little funny through his Thin-lensed glasses. "I have no idea what the fuck I was just talking about... but I bet it sounded cool." He nodded certainly to himself.
You cracked a smile "What are you doing, Old man?... How the Hell do you keep escaping from those nursing homes?" You had a good idea already.
Artorias the Mad Hound shrugged, though that Signature smile crossed his old face "Oh I was just passing by."
"And Spring Falls' being the second most secure in the state?" You asked.
His smile widened "Every dog has his day." Pops blinked, peering around in mild confusion "You are aware that Your father is going to **** you when He sees what you've done with the place?"
You fiddled with your knuckles "Yeah, probably." You grimaced as the strange-smelling smoke filled the air "Hey, Pops, what is that stuff you smoke anyway?"
He chuckled then, a cackly, deep laugh "If you think that I have any idea what I'm currently smoking, Boy, then you haven't been paying attention." He grunted, "You're just like your mother."
Your eyes lit up "I am?"
He grinned, giving you another smile, circling his finger around his own head. Slouching back, you grumbled "Miserable old bat."
He rubbed his poor ears "What was that?"
"Nothing, Pops. Come on, I'll get you a coffee-"
"I wouldn't go into the kitchen... there's something very very evil in there." He said off-handedly. "I'd prefer a stuff bourbon anyway, I may not recall where the hell I've been for the past year but I do know that I wasn't allowed to drink."
...What the fuck was He talking about now? "Evil, in the Kitchen... Diana isn't cooking again is she?"
But there was no sense of Humour on that old, bearded face.
You slowly arose from your father's chair... much to your hesitance, you did really like that chair... Even more than the Chair in the observatory... Your dad had weird obsessions with really random shit huh?
"It's barely evening, come on old man, let's get you some coffee." You said, helping him up, the old man grunting as he held unto your arm.
"Damn kids, bunch of Killjoys."
