Chapter 5 by TheMouse TheMouse

What's your answer?

Politely say no

“Fuck you”, you yell, standing in a defensive stance. No way were you given Raven or anyone for that matter over to this bastard. Your eyes darted back and forth on your four opponents, your grip the hilt of your blade till it hurts.

Like a bullet, all four of the figures charge towards you. You manage to block two of their blades with your own and doge the third, but you were too slow on the fourth. You felt it slice down by your side, cutting you but not profoundly. You were outnumbered and with restricted movement, as that would leave Raven exposed sooner or later. You would be too slow—there’s ****. You have to use ‘it’.

The cold feeling once again covers your body, it felt horrible, but you pushed through the emotion. You only had a couple of seconds before the coldness took you completely. You think you lose a bit of hair as you duck under a slash. You punch one of them in the chest hard you feel something break on the impact. They fly backwards, turning a brick wall into pebbles with their body. To you, it’s as if time slows, but to anyone watching you and the creatures were moving as blurs, your blades were lighting up the dark street as they collided.

Your breath now looked like smoke on the night air, a slight amount of ice started to form on your knuckles, and your hands were numb. You had to end this now. Taking a large breath, you prepared for their attack.

One slashes at you, and you break their arm with your hilt. Their blade falls from their hand, which now hangs uselessly from their body. Another comes from behind you, slice the tendons in their legs, another rushes towards you, pin their limbs into the ground with their blade after you knock it out of their grip. The final one hesitates for just a moment, and you seize the opportunity to attack. You slice, not fully aware of what you had done until you turn your head to see it no longer has arms from the elbow down. The same black tar seeps from its wound before the creature collapses to the ground.

You let out a breath, and the cold slowly fades from your body. You feel the claws cutting into your mind, taking you deeper into the abyss. It’s only now that you notice your wounds, a few minor cuts made evident by the blood seeping onto your cloak.

“Such talent is rare. Who trained you, child?” you don’t answer him. You stare at him with hate and anger as it clouds your mind. Your vision was hazy, and your knees wobbled, but you stood firm, holding your sword out towards him defiantly. “Very well, die with your secrets.”

You don’t even see him move, it was reflexes that stopped a small dagger from hitting your neck, but you only managed to move the one aimed at your heart away a few inches, missing your arteries. “You would have been an excellent assassin” you feel a blow into your stomach. The taste of blood and bile fills your mouth. You fall onto the ground. You try and pull yourself back up, but you feel a foot push on your back. Your body was beaten and exhausted from the fight. You wanted to pull yourself up, but he presses down onto you harder with his foot. You look up, staring hatefully at him. You spit a mouthful of blood in defiance.

“Time to die, and thank you for young Raven.” Suddenly he’s thrown backwards by a sudden ****. At first, you think he shot you, but when you look up, you see him lying on the floor with smoke rising from his chest. You’re expecting to see Raven standing there but instead, you’re greeted by the sight of.

Pink hair?

“Forgot about me, you bastard” smoke was coming out her finger, which she pointed like a gun. Her face was bruised and bleeding, and she was struggling to stand.

Your attention is then drawn back to the man as he laughs softly at first. Still, it grows louder and louder until it becomes a burst of manic laughter. This time you don’t care. He would have killed you and Raven, and he doesn’t deserve mercy. Once again, the cold sinks into you, like hooks on your flesh. You’re on your feet and dive towards him, ready to impale his heart with your blade.

“‘iilaa ramad” he says before you make contact. The blade hits the stone of the road, and his body seemingly dissolves into the ground along with the four creatures leaving not a trace of them behind.

You slump onto the ground, exhausted. You have no idea how much time has passed since you started fighting. You look over at Jinx, who also looks just as drained as you are.

“Jinx?” you question, pulling yourself up off the ground just as Jinx falls. “That fucking bastard” She fell on her knees and clutched her side. You Rush over to her “you alright?” you ask, helping her sit up. She pauses for a moment. “Ya just peachy”, she grunts before looking up at you, and her expression changes from annoyed to a wide grin. “Well, hi there, big guy.”

You notice Raven starting to turn. You needed to get her back to the tower and make sure she’s alright her wounds were minimal, but that beam is what’s worrying you, but Jinx was pretty beaten up, dried blood was on her skin and no doubt a few broken bones. You couldn’t just leave her after she saved your life.

“You need help”, you say to Jinx while picking Raven up off the ground, making sure to cradle her head as you lift her. “Mmm” she hums, her head rubbing up on your chest. You feel your face blush, and Jinx gives you a jealous look.

“I wouldn’t mind if you ‘examined’ me, big guy, but I’m not exactly friendly with the Titans. Besides, I can take care of myself.” Jinx tries to pick herself up off the ground but flinches from pain and falls back onto her knees.

You could leave her here, but who knows what would happen to her. And how would Raven react when she finds out?

If you did leave her here, there was a medical centre not far you would feel much better knowing she would get medical care there.

Do you take her in?
