Lucille’s Request

“Valestia. A labyrinth tier dungeon in the middle of The City of Adventurers, Aedon. First discovered over a hundred years ago, the city was built around the labyrinth by adventurers seeking its treasures. Due to the difficulty, Valestia has never been cleared, and its depths remain unexplored to this day,” said Lucille.

“So then, what you mentioned back at the manor...” said Flora.

“Indeed. While mostly a bluff, Valestia is a real place. It only opens for a few months every few years, and the last time it did, dozens of civilians died to a monster attack,” she said.

“And you think we’d be able to clear it when nobody else in a hundred years could?” I asked, incredulous.

“Perhaps not, but, at the very least, I want to protect the people of my hometown,” said Lucille.

“Flynn,” said Ophelia.

“Hm?” I asked.

“I’d like to do as she wants. I know you’re skeptical because you’re worried about me being in danger, but, I want to help her too,” Ophelia declared, a determined look in her azure eyes.

She seemed to have grown so much in the past few days. No longer was she a sniveling victim cowering in the guild’s bed. She stood as a new adventurer, and with the others’ help, she looked the part too.

Ophelia’s long pink hair was drawn back by a blue ribbon that matched her eyes. She had armored boots that went up to her knees, then thigh high socks that accentuated her thighs. She wore an armored skirt and chest plate that showed off her impressive cleavage. Her forearms were covered by armored vambraces, and she had a rapier at her side.

“I see. Alright then, it seems I may have underestimated you, Ophelia,” I said. “As long as everyone’s on board, then our next destination is Aedon.”

“I’ve got no problems with it. Heck, seeing Lucy’s hometown sounds kinda fun,” said Sofia, patting the blushing Paladin one the back.

“Nor do I,” said Alice. “Protecting the townsfolk is a calling most noble.”

“Materials from a century old dungeon...I can smell the money already,” said Flora, her merchant instincts kicking in.

“Thank you, everyone,” said Lucille, an embarrassed smile on her face.

“Cmon, lets make this official,” I said, heading over towards Anna’s desk and laying the quest sheet down on top.

“...Valestia...?” muttered Anna, a horrified look on her face.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“You can’t go!” She exclaimed.

“Whoa, calm down. What happened,” I asked.

“That place...it’s a **** trap,” she said. “That’s the dungeon...where my days as an adventurer came to an end.”
