The baby of the family

Lauren arrived at her family reunion. It was the same as all the others she'd been **** to go to. Same recycled conversations. Same relatives saying 'I remember when you were this tall!'. Her grandmother even pinched her on the cheek as though she was still a kid! Lauren hated these reminders of her youth. She worked hard to be an adult, and didn't need to hear about 'what a cute toddler she was'. A few relatives even told the story of Lauren when she was five streaking through a previous family reunion! Lauren's face was burning as everyone laughed.

"Hey Lauren," Her aunt Debbie approached. "We have an idea for a photo we want to take with you."

"Oh? What photo?" Lauren perked up. An appeal to her vanity always broke through her cold shell.

"Well, you're the youngest woman here, and Great Aunt Betty is the oldest! So, we were thinking of getting a photo of the oldest woman and the baby of the family!"

Lauren flinched at being called 'the baby of the family'.

"Oh, I don't know..." Lauren hesitated, trying to think of a reason to say no.

"Oh come on, it'll be great!" Debbie grabbed Lauren's hand and pulled her along...
