Druuna and the cave people.

Taking hold of her club ( a simple bar of iron with a cube of metal at the end), Druuna left Janette behind and moved down the stairs and began searching the lower levels of the massive structure. As she walked deeper and deeper into the labyrinth of shipping containers and wooden crates, Druuna began to notice the eerie quietness of the warehouse. Even the most well preserved structures in the wasteland had the chirping of crickets or at least a few flies buzzing about.

Ignoring the lack of sound, Druuna continued on, ignoring odd flash of movement at the corners of her vision. "After all," she thought "I've been under a lot of stress recently. I jut need a good, long rest.". Her thoughts were interrupted as a pair of pale hands shot out of the darkness and grabbed her ankle. Druuna screamed in surprise and went to grab her club, but another pair of hands snatched it from her grip before she could react. More hands appeared out of the darkness, and with them, their terrible owners.

The creatures were men, once. But years of living in the basements and service tunnels underneath the Distribution Center and low radiation had turned their eyes into useless, milky white orbs. They had long, gangly arms and legs and pale, yellowed skin stretched over sunken skulls. The creatures made little noise as they mobbed around the raven-haired beauty, grabbing her limbs and shoving a foul smelling rag into her mouth as a makeshift gag. Giggling in high, scratchy voices the creatures whisked the bound Druuna away, down the stairs and through a maze of winding tunnels and rooms.

Elsewhere, Janette heard a faraway scream, then silence. Gripping her long dagger, Janette looked toward the source of the sound and knew instantly that Druuna must have been in trouble.
