Chapter 5 by Omega98 Omega98

Where do you go? Officer's Mess, Captain's Ready Room, or Sick Bay?

Officer's Mess

Not having had anything to eat since your hurried breakfast, you decide to head down to the officer’s mess hall for an early dinner. Most officers are either on duty or getting settled in their quarters which meant that occupation of the room was rather spartan. As such you had your pick of tables, which was actually quite fortuitous as only a half hour later you see the room start to fill up with off duty personnel.

Deciding to hang around a while longer, you found fortune to have smiled on you again as moments later the buxom Comm. Officer stepped into the room. Casting a curious glance around the room she smiled when she saw you and made her way immediately over. Returning her smile, you stand to greet her as she makes her way up to your table.

“Well, well, Lieutenant Doe! How on Earth did you manage to get yourself this fancy posting hmm?” She asked with sass.

With a light smirk you reply, “Nothing to it gorgeous.” She looked down and away as her cheeks went red at your response. Then as she sat down in the opposite chair you continued. “Just some fancy fighter flying out in the Neutral Zone, that’s all.”

Laughing a little she leaned in close, “Really, I thought you called your Mommy and had her pull some strings.”

“Not at all,” you insist, “I did have to call her to get my wife assigned to the same ship though.”

At that she smirked, “Your mother hates me.”

Shrugging you state, “I know, that’s why I called my dad and had him sweet talk her into it.”

“And how did he manage that?”

With a mocking look as if she should already know (which she already did) you state, “My Dad’s Glenn Doe! The attorney with a 2000 and twelve record! He could convince a Vulcan that Starships run on steam!”

Tina burst out laughing which you quickly joined in on; drawing the looks of several jealous shipmates but neither of you cared.

After a moment both of you quieted down before you asked, “So how was the party last night? I didn’t see you this morning.”

You saw a flicker of surprise mixed with something else flash in her eyes before she answered, “Uh… yea… Sorry about that I kinda got REALLY drunk last night. I can’t remember what happened after twenty-four hundred.”

Nodding in response, you could tell that there was more to the story; especially after what you heard the junior officers saying this morning. But you weren’t sure if you really wanted to push the issue; partly because you didn’t want to accuse her of something she didn’t do. But also because of something she may have done.

Before you could finish your thoughts, you felt a hand on your leg underneath the table as Tina leaned in and asked, “Hey, you wanna go back to our quarters and get settled in?” The last part was said with a glint in her eye and you had no doubt that if you did the two of you would be christening your new home in minutes.

How do you respond? Yes? No? Other Ideas?
