Star Trek: Constitution

Star Trek: Constitution

Space, the final frontier...

Chapter 1 by Omega98 Omega98

Discovered in the late 2100s Seanix Prime was situated within a binary star system of two red dwarfs. Located within the small habitable zone of the two stars, the average temperature of the planet was a comfortable twenty-one degrees Celsius, and its gravity was found to be ninety-eight percent Earth normal. Over the next fifty years Earth spent quite a lot of time, money and resources in a huge terraforming effort in order to colonize the planet. Flora and fauna from Earth were imported, wildlife from Andoria, weather keeping equipment from Vulcan. Ice asteroids from the outer rim of the star system were tractored into a decaying orbit for water, all of this effort ultimately resulted in first-in-colonists setting foot on the planet on April 27th 2241.

Thus when Starfleet Command lost contact with Seanix Prime in late 2242 the logical response was to send a starship to investigate. Normally this duty would have been regulated to an aging destroyer or a spare frigate. However, since relations with the Klingons had deteriorated to the point where war was inevitable, Starfleet had mobilized its fleet along the Federation-Klingon border; which happened to be in the opposite direction of Seanix Prime. As a result, the job of investigating the goings on of Seanix Prime became the shakedown cruise of the U.S.S. Constitution NX-1700.

With the powerful type VI power core capable of propelling the ship at speeds up to Warp 8, there was no construct in the known galaxy that could outrun her. Designed specifically as a multi-purpose and exploration vessel, she also had the armament, power, and durability to take on a Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser and expect to win. The Constitution was, simply put; the finest ship in the fleet, at the same time both the flag and the pride of Starfleet. She was also your first deep space assignment.
