You try to find an escape

You weren't going to give up and wait around! You wanted to go home! You immediately realise that Alice has stopped paying attention to you, or anything else other than her book. While she's obviously trying to act nonchalant, you see her nervously tapping one boot on the ground.

"Look... Surely we can find a way out? Like... An open window?"

"On the third floor?" She replies dryly.

"I don't know. But we can't just give up!" You exclaim, taking a look around the room and getting a good view. There were a few windows which could maybe be pried open a bit. You wouldn't want the risk of trying to get out of them though, even with a small ledge you could easily fall onto the ground below. You hoped you could maybe find some kind of rope and then you could almost rappel down. If you maanged to get through the small window, that is.

But the library seemed to be mostly books and bookshelves. You try to pull a rug off the floor and realise it's literally nailed to the ground. Is this some sort of anti-theft measure? You rummage around, dashing around the library and getting quite tired in the process.

"I, er, would suggest calming down a bit." Alice mumbles, speaking up.

"It's kind of hard to do that!" You say, trying to keep your voice level.

"Well, stop running all over the place at least. We're in the hottest month of the season and the AC is turned off out of school hours. In minutes this room will be like a sauna." She sighs, "Prepare yourself."

"H-How long till you said the janitor will be here?"
