"Yes, that's it," I announced exasperated. "I'm a vandal and I've been carving my name on everything all over town."

Kouki rolled her eyes at me and didn't ask for an explanation after that and just handed me a bowl of corn and rice. We ate in silence for some time, but after we were done and preparing for bed she said softly, "I'm sorry."

I looked at my sister and could tell she was being honest. I knew then that I should have said it first, but it was too late for that. "I'm sorry too," I replied. I wanted to say more, but didn't have any words. Kouki turned her back to me to get undressed and I did the same as always. Once I heard her slide into her bedding I blew out our one candle and got into bed myself.

Today has been such a weird day I relived it all over in my head, especially the strangeness of the ancient stone obelisk bearing my name. Still, somehow my mind returned to the sight of my sister, nearly naked as she gently touched at her soft woman parts as my eyes finally close heavy with sleep. My last thought was, 'If I were a vandal I'd just take what I want.' And right now I wanted a woman more than anything else.
