As far as you recall, the many tribes of the steppes were locked in constant warfare. Raiding each other and your borders constantly, life was nasty, brutish, and short for the majority of these peoples. However, for the nobles and chiefs, they lived extravagantly in their fancy yurts with beautiful wives/sex slaves captured from all corners of the world. Naturally, some of the daughters born from these unions would be quite beautiful.

Last you heard, the top rival clans, the Jyungar’s and Jugtai’s were quarreling over a certain Jugtai princess that chose to flee from a union. Said to be a divine goddess, she could not stand her cruel, tyrannical fiancé and fled before the consummation. Being her father’s, the Jugtai Khan, natural favorite, the Jyungar’s were utterly humiliated.

Now they engage in brutal steppe warfare raiding and razing. So far, the Jyungar’s seem to have the upper hand, murdering and **** in their indignant fury. The young Jyungar heir pledged that he would respond to his humiliation by mounting the princess atop of a pyramid of Jugtai skulls for all to see.

Both of these tribes have stopped acting as tributaries long ago. In fact, Celestial presence in the steppe lands has dwindled to a single, loyal tribe called the Eseni. As they claim descent from your ancestor through the womb of one of his conquests, they view themselves as a “bastard” branch of your dynasty. Their claims to Celestial blood and divinity are spurious, though their ally ship is invaluable due to their informational and auxiliary purposes.
