What's next?
A Friendly Hand
You hadn't gotten too far when someone grabbed your hand. You stopped and looked behind you.
It was Tina...
"Thank you..." she said in a quiet singsong way. You smiled weakly and said,
"You're welcome." It's always good to know that even in a vast sea of darkness, there is still light, an oasis in the storms of life; encouraging trust in you from others made you feel better. Even if a little. "Wanna find your parents?"
She nodded shyly, still holding on to your hand. "Mama and I got lost. Daddy's gone..." she whimpered sadly. You frowned.
"I know how you feel," your old voice moaned. "I lost my father when I was your age." It may have only some time ago that you recollected, but it was just buried in your mind. But you weren't about to let that stop you from doing what you were born to do: help people. "The best thing to do when you're lost is to stay where you are until someone finds you."
So you both headed back to the bench, where you met each other. You sat beside her, waiting for her mom to find her. You and little Tina were a little awkward around each other, but then she broke the silence. "How... How you do that?"
"Do what?" you asked innocently.
"Make big hand, pick up meanies." You then tried explaining that you can create forms out of a hard light. You demonstrated by creating a small pyramid in the air above your palm. She was nervous, but she was intrigued. You changed it slowly into a cube, then a sphere, and made things come out of it to form a little bird.
'Wow...!' was she could say. It made her happy, your trick. And that made you feel better. Your close your hands together over the bird, arching an eyebrow and grinning. "Now watch. Abracadabra!" You quickly unfold your hands as if they were a big book, and light blue bubbles floated up and in front of a giggly Tina. She loved it! She reached up and when she poked at a bubble, it popped.
With an extra bang to it!
That frightened her, cuddling close to you and crying. You rubbed her back and comforted. "It's ok... It's ok... It was like thunder, just a loud noise. There, there." You honestly didn't believe the teleport bubbles would have that much punch; you only created bubbles out of the teleport energy.
Fortunately, her mother came looking for her, calling her name. You gently shook Tina to get her attention, and she actually heard her. "Mommy? Mommy?" She looks around and sees her coming up the path right in front of the bench. "Mommy!"
"Tina!" They both ran to each other, overjoyed to see one another. You smiled, a tear welling up in your eyes. They embraced tightly, crying out loud happily. You watched them, proud to know that you won't let any setbacks stop your heroics as you stood up.
As you walked away, you heard a "Stop!"
Who said that?
