Head to the pool

Lauren absently tugged on her towel again, doing her best to think. A payphone was probably out of the question. Even assuming she could find one, it wasn’t as though she had any change. That meant getting ahold of someone’s cellphone. Which meant she’d either have to reveal herself to somebody, or she’d have to steal one. Neither seemed like terribly great options.

Lauren growled in frustration, before an idea struck her. Wait! There was an old phone at the apartment complex’s pool! She remembered trying to place a call on it once, and being frustrated that it only connected to the central office. That would work perfectly! She could call the landlady, get her to leave a key, and all her problems would be solved. All she had to do was get there without being spotted.

She took a deep breath. She didn’t want to give up what modesty her towel provided her, but she couldn’t stay here all day. Steeling her nerves, Lauren dropped her towel, dashing to the end of the hallway.

Fortunately, Lauren didn’t encounter anyone on her way out. She had no idea what she would have done if any of her neighbors had spotted her, running around naked without any of her padding. She’d almost prefer to be spotted by a stranger. At least then her humiliation would be limited to today.

Before too long, she found herself in front of the fenced-off pool area. Though the gate was locked, Lauren was relieved (if a little chagrined) to find that she was small enough to slip through the bars. Heading toward the small booth next to the pool, Lauren stopped upon seeing some clothing spread out on one of the lounge chairs.

“Finally, some luck,” Lauren thought to herself, approaching the discarded clothing. Somebody must have accidentally left it behind while changing. Even once the landlady left her a new key, she still needed to head back to her apartment, and having something to wear would make that much less stressful. At this point, she’d wear anything, no matter how ill-fitting.

At least, that’s what she thought, until she actually picked up the clothing in question...
