Chapter 24 by Marcus Cooper

Does it?

Maybe?

Makoto didn't know what to do. His letter was a copy of what his acceptance letter from the first timeline, but with University changed to High school. This definitely didn't happen the first time around, but what could've affected this change? Kyoko looked over and sensed some discord in her boyfriend's mind.

"Ms. Yukizome, this is a lot to take in, especially for Makoto. Can we go upstairs for a minute?"

"I don't know why you're asking me, but I understand completely."

"Go on up, Kyoko-chan. Mako-kun must be about to have a heart attack." The duo made their way upstairs, though Kyoko had to lead Makoto given the circumstances. Both were seated on Makoto's bed.

"Makoto, look at me. Everything makes sense when you think it through."

"How could this happen?!"

"The rulebook of course."

"I know it can do anything, but you said it could only affect changes after my birth according to my desires! What part of that translates to this?"

"Weren't you friends with almost everyone in our class?"

"What does that have to do with it?"

"Just answer the question."

"Yes. And with some others too."

"Including Chisa."

"Yeah, I think so. I didn't think we were that close though."

"No offense, Makoto, but you didn't know my feelings until I confessed; you're not the best people reader."

"That's true. But we still haven't figured out how this happened."

"Do you remember what you said to someone when your friendship reached it's peak, or someone confided in you about a tragic past?"

"That I wished I was there to help them?"

"Yes. And that you wished you'd met them earlier. Hence our earlier admission into the Hope's Peak system."

"Okay. That makes sense."

"In fact, judging from my unique circumstances, I wouldn't be surprised if you "luckily" bumped into half your classmates before the first semester."

"Oh no, I don't think I'm prepared deal with that right now." Makoto blanched at the thought of meeting all his former (future?) classmates. Sure, It'd give them more time to bond, but who knows how different their personalities may be.

"Relax. Remember, if anything bad happens, we have this," she gestures to the notebook she had kindly left on Makoto's bed, "and each other."

"Right. We can get through this!"

"That's the Makoto I know. Let's see how everything pans out."

How do things shape up?
