"You got all that from the fact he brought cheese doodles," Derrick raises a brow with a grin.

"Of course, cheese doodles = culture," Alistair responds, excitedly stuffing his face with handfuls of cheese doodles, returning his focus to the movie. Derrick leans in to whisper,

"Well that's Alistair for you. Incredibly smart and incredibly devoted to cheese," you both laugh a little. You like that he can make you laugh. You go to sit on the couch. It was you and Derrick, Alistair, a girl in a bright pink wig, and who you could only assume was Clark, the skinny twink who was doing a very bad job of hiding the boner he had from the girl leaning on his shoulder and who's brother was supposedly bringing beers later. "So, here's the rundown," Derrick starts, "We have about 6 seasons of Starshine to get through tonight, so yes we are including the reboot prequel season, however excluding the reboot fast-forward direct-to-home video movie because none of us wanted to sit through that the first time." You nod, pretending like you know what's going on. You've only ever seen one episode of Starshine and you were not really paying attention, so this is going to be a long night. "Currently" Derrick continued, his face centimeters from your ear because he was whispering still, "we are still on season one, before the whole Freaky Friday scene with the captain and his first-mate."

"FUCK HIM IN THE ASS BITCH" The girl on the couch shouted, "FUCK HIM", raising her hands in the air, disorienting Clark and agitating Alistair.

"STOP MAKING ALL THE CHARACTERS GAY SUE!" Alistair said, "Everyone knows the captain dates Shawna Walters in season 4."

"Yeah Alistair, but in my head canon everyone in this show is bisexual. You can not deny the sexual chemistry between the captain and his first mate."

"BULL SHIT SUE! THEY'RE JUST BROS!"

"YEAH BROS WHO FUCK EACH OTHER'S BRAINS OUT." Both Sue and Alistair are up now and they are shouting at each other. Derrick grabs your hand and guides you to the other side of the room.

"Why did you?" You start, but Derrick interjects.

"Just trust me, you don't want to be near them until the season 1 finale where they kill off the first mate." You smile.

"Seems like you've done this once or twice before." You reply.

"Yeah, they all love the show, so we binge it all the time."

"They?" Derrick looks embarrassed.

"Can you keep a secret?" Derrick eventually responds. You think about everything that has happened today.

"Yeah, I think I'm pretty good at that."

"I'm kinda meh on the whole StarShine thing," You pretend to look shocked.

"Really Derrick, how dare you say such a thing like that." You say, visibly smiling.

"Ha, I mean, I don't know. I used to like it, just guess that I grew out of it. But they love it," Derrick points over to a still heated argument between Alistair and Sue, "But they're my friends ya feel?" You didn't ever really have a consistent friend group. It felt like every year you would have to find new people to spend time with, because no one ever wanted to be around you for much longer than that.

"Yeah," you say smiling, "You want to do it because you like them and want to spend time with them."

Derrick smiles, "So we could go back into world war 3 or we could go somewhere else and just hang."

You grin, but before you respond, you feel your phone buzz in your pocket. It's your dad.
