Suddenly, his keen sense of hearing picks up the sound of footfalls coming down the hallway. She doesn't react. Unfortunately, that also means she doesn't know they're coming, and he isn't sure how to warn her without sounding like a potential strange voice for someone to hear.

He pushes the box shut, and accepts the gift. Then he raises a finger to his lips.

"What's wrong?" she asks.

Then there's a knock on her door. "Honey?" says a deep male voice. "Are you all right in there? Who are you talking to?"

Taern makes a bolt towards his equipment and tucks the box way into one of his pouches. Thankfully he is quite good at being quiet--usually. He lifts up the belt holding his supplies as well as his weapons, and then he hears a second voice speak. This one belongs to an older woman from what he can tell.

"We need to open the door. She might have a boy in there!" says the voice.

"A boy?" the man responds. "You're right!"

He considers his options. However, his time is cut far shorter than he originally thought. Sophie never locked her door! The knob turns and the door pushes open immediately, giving him next to no time to react. Still without pants, he dangers the belt of gear behind him as he sprints like a blur to the window he first entered through. Stealth is a thing of the past now. He yanks the thing fully open, and as he swings himself towards the roof, he hears a commotion from behind him.

There's no time to look back.
