What's next?

Snap decision

Hermione knew she had to do something quickly, before her clothing situation got completely out of hand. She decided she was going to fake a headache. That way she could excuse herself to go to Madame Pomfrey for one of her instant pain-relieving spells, while what she would actually do would be to run to the library for a counter-curse, then up to the dormitory for a new uniform, then back to the classroom in time to finish her work. She raised a hand, swatting away another group of moths as she did,

"Professor Vector?"

"Yes, Miss Granger?" Professor Septima Vector looked over. Hermione began to rise from her chair. As she did, the thoroughly-nibbled waistband of her skirt snapped in two, and the black garment dropped from her body, landing in a small tattered heap on the floor. Hermione paused, halfway out of her chair, her waist at the level of the desk. It seemed like a very long time she stood in an awkward half-pose, before she sank back to her chair.

"Is... er... is it okay to use Flibble's Constant to solve this?" She asked.

"Yes, either that or Maypole's Formula if you feel like challenging yourself." Professor Vector replied.

Hermione looked down, under her desk. Her skirt was useless now. Other than an increasingly-ragged white blouse, a tie that was getting shorter and thinner every time another moth passed by, she had her thoroughly laddered and holely black tights, and a pair of light purple panties, which had a design of white flowers, as well as cursive writing on the rear saying "Monday". At least it was the right day, Hermione mused.

She turned to her work, hoping that if she applied herself to the arithmancy calculations, a solution to her clothing problem might pop out of her subconscious. She raised her quill, waved away a cluster of moths from in front of her, and set to work on the arithmancy formulae, trying to ignore her clothes falling apart around her.
