The earth in front of both of you explodes as massive tendrils come forth. As the dust settles you realize them to be roots, massive and old. You have no idea where they came from, certainly not from within the park, but they seem to have been drawn to your panic. You squint as they seem to be shifting and pulling apart, revealing what almost looks like a tunnel within. You and Allegra exchange a worried glance and then enter, neither of you can think of a better plan. The 'tunnel' is strange, just large enough for both of you to walk in but as you walk it 'closes' into a regular root behind you.
"I'm really hoping this is nature's way of helping us..." You mutter as you continue in near darkness. As the two of you walk you go down for a long time, then you seem to stay relatively level until you begin climbing again. You become aware of a dim light in the distance and finally you exit back to the ground and the roots burrow beneath the ground again behind you. You find yourself in what the city calls 'Silver Park', the largest park in the city limits and your only hope for greenery within.
"So this is why we were brought here..." Allegra says beside you and you turn to look in the direction she's facing to look at a massive old growth tree not far from you. You remember now, Silver Park has one of the oldest trees for quite a distance. The old growth may be little more than a footnote to most of the city, protected only by some faint sentiment from self-professed nature lovers, but you and Allegra see its' true beauty. You both walk towards it and know this is what you felt before, calling to nature's newest protectors. You still don't know where to start but you feel calm in it's presence, so much so you feel your eyes start to sag. You and Allegra sit against the tree as you feel sleep call you, and around the both of you the tree's massive trunk begins to warp around you, forming a barrier to keep you safe.
