A horror film

Past experience had shown that Brian did not handle horror films very well, and the latest instalment in a certain franchise would be sure to leave him extra squeamish and too pre-occupied to try anything.

“Ooh, this one looks sooooo scary! Can we see it, pwetty pwease?”, implored Andrea, turning on the ditzy manner of speech and fluttering eyelashes.

Brian **** a friendly grin to hide his dread, and bought two tickets, two sodas, and popcorn to share.

The theatre was barely-populated, and they were sat at the back row, leaving them difficult to spot and isolated.

It must have been because he was trying to impress his date, or the confidence of being on a date drove away his fear, but Brian was neither flinching nor cowering from the gruesome events unfurling onscreen.

In fact, it was Andrew who found himself jumping and yelping at the film, each jumpscare budging him closer and closer to Brian.

So distracted by the events on the screen, Andrew failed to notice Brian bringing his arm around him, pulling him closer till ‘she’ was hiding in Brian’s shirt.

Suddenly Andrew realized his position, and brought his head up, locking eyes with Andrew.

The two stared at each other for a little while, till Brian cupped Andrea’s head in his hand and brought it closer, as he moved his head towards Andrea’s.

Andrew knew exactly where this was going, and although he was proud of his friend’s forwardness with a girl, he did not want to be his best friend’s first proper kiss.
