Wedding ceremony

You and Ekaterina get dressed in silence to get ready for the wedding ceremony. Then, the guests burst out in cheers and applause, which you and Abby join in with, before the ceremony breaks up into the social gathering that it was previously. While Vladimir stays to mingle with the guests, you notice that Sasha is led back into the manor by a few Russian women, including the young woman who you had seen at the club.

Knowing nobody else, you and Abby walk around casually with drinks in your hand and occasionally saying hello to people, although most of them are uninterested in striking up a conversation with you 2 or only speak Russian. Even the men who had been chatting up Abby previously avoided you both, clearly because you're by her side. After a while, you're wondering how long you need to stay to avoid offending Vladimir. It's then, while you're caught up in your thoughts, when Vladimir walks up to you and Abby. Clinging to his arm is Ekaterina.

Vladimir nods at you before he turns to Abby. When she offers her hand for a handshake, he bows and kisses it gently.

"It was a beautiful ceremony," you say to the crime boss.

"Thank you. And who might this lovely lady be?" he says, looking at Abby but addressing you.

"This is Abby, my uh..." you pause, not sure what to refer to Abby as. It's really the first time you 2 had been out together where you've had to introduce her. Accurately, she's a person contractually obligated to you, but you can't say that. She's also technically your lawyer, but that would be a weird thing to say too. "... associate," you finally say, exchanging a look with Abby, who seems fine with that label.

"Associate?" Vladimir says questioningly.

"Um... yeah, you know, sort of like, um, you and Ekaterina," you say, blurting out whatever comes to your mind. You hadn't expected a follow up question.

Vladimir's thick eyebrows furrow at your comment. "Like me and Ekaterina?" he says.

You gulp and don't know what to say next. You're already thinking about how to use your magic rings to get out of this conversation, which would be tricky since Abby is right here with you. Vladimir looks at Abby again, then you, paying attention at how you each have your hands around the other's back. He then says something to Ekaterina in Russian and she giggles before she responds to him in the same language.

Vladimir turns back to you and switches back to English. "I don't think so, my friend. Your associate, you fuck her?" he says bluntly. Abby is unflustered by the direct question although she doesn't say anything. Vladimir seems to treat her like an object and only talks to you as a person, not that unusual for a crime boss.

You nod in response and Vladimir stares at you for a long, unbearable moment, until he smiles and you let yourself breathe easily again. "Not like me and Ekaterina," he says, patting the blonde's hand on his arm as they both look at you. At first, you're wondering what he means, but then you look at them. They really couldn't look more different from each other, but they do share similar eyes. The realization must have shown on your face, because Vladimir nods and chuckles.

"Ekaterina is my sister," he says, confirming what you're thinking.
