Night falls on Snake's Remains Cave...

"Ah, yes," Edward sighed. "Now that's what I call equivalent exchange."

Go ahead, call her fandom trash. Fanfiction was an art form all on its own! Characters and setting we didn't need to get to know for the first time since we were already familiar with them meant we could better focus on stories, relationships, and character interactions. Plus, if the show wouldn't go all the way on that romantic subplot, fanfiction was there to pick up the slack. Yeah, most of it wasn't the peak of literature, but... Have you seen the current bestseller list? Eve would take some smutty fanfics over Fifty Shades of Gray or Twilight any day of the week!

The clock on her phone showed it was 1am. Which, while not all that late for someone with the circadian rhythm of a being from the Furthest Ring, indicated to Eve that she'd been in her little hidey-hole tent in Snake's Remains Cave for about seven hours now, all of which was spent on her Switch and phone. Both were low on battery power, so it might be in her best interest to at least try and sleep until morning.

She shut off her phone to conserve the remaining power, a bit nervous as her tent fell into total darkness save for the dull red light on her space heater. But if this cave had some decades-old significance to the Reptile Science Club, maybe it was once a flourishing snake den? Perhaps the snake population died out due to the college town bringing in predators like cats, or one of the previous town officials staging an extermination due to the danger a den of potentially poisonous snakes might pose. She'd have to come by again with a group when it was light out, see if she could find some snake bones! For now, sleep. Or an attempt, at least.
