Chapter 314 by airwreck airwreck

What does Amy's father say?

“Nah, I'm okay to drive.”

"Nah, I'm okay to drive," Amy's father replied. "I only had a few drinks."

"You sure?" I eyed him -- he was taller and more muscular than me, so a few Long Island iced teas probably didn't give him a buzz.

"Yeah, kid, I'm not leaving my truck here over night."

"I just don't want anything to happen to you," I replied just as the waitress came back with credit card receipt for me to sign.

"I'm a cop remember?"

"But you're also Amy's dad and she would never forgive me if something happened to you that was preventable."

"Fine," he sighed.

"I'll call Elizabeth to pick us up," I told him as I brought out my iPhone. "Talia can drive your truck."

We made some small talk while we waited for my wife. I mentioned that Elizabeth and I were trying to conceive (but I left out the fact I was trying to knock up Talia as well).

"Do you want a boy or a girl?" Piers asked me.

"Either is fine, as long as they're healthy."

"You're going to be more protective if you have a daughter," he sighed. "Gotta keep those boys away from her until she's engaged!"

"You didn't do a good job, did you?" I chuckled.

He stared at me as if he was deciding how to beat me up but then smirked. "See, you do have balls, kid! But yeah, I screwed up..."

"You didn't screw up, Piers, Amy turned out to be a great mom!"

"Well, if she gives me a granddaughter make sure you treat her like a princess..."

I was about to ask what he meant by that but my phone buzzed, notifying me that Elizabeth had texted me that she was outside.

"You're a good kid, Ian," Piers stated, slapping me on the shoulder as we got up to leave the bar.

"Thanks, sir."

How is the ride back home?
