... looks for the owner

She walked carefully towards the front of the store, with her sight obstructed and store overall being poorly lit, she didn't want to fall into something.

The shopkeeper was nowhere to be found, however, and she seemed to have lost her way twice trying to get to the front of the store.
She definitely walked past the same French Maid outfit three times.

She tried speaking to get the owners attention, but no-one was responding. Finally, she did take a right turn and reached the front desk, occupied by the man she saw when entering a store, the other owner.

She tried to get his attention, but he seemed to be ignoring her while reading his book.

Several attempts to get him to raise his eyes failed miserably. Was he deaf? but he was talking with the female owner before when she entered?

What was going on? In frustration, she slammed her hand on the desk.

That did get his attention.

He raised his head from above his book, looked at her, looked at the desk, then without a word, went back to reading.
