VR Day 5 - Be a captain

Viti has a big family, and she has to talk to them before she can sign anything. You better call home too... You spend some time doing that. Several players from your team are already here: Lara, Aki, Sun, and of course Viti. Today is a much nicer day than yesterday, so some of the other girls are planning a picnic.

You decide to plan one too, but just for your girls on Team Pink. As you make lunch and pack it for the others, Viti rushes into the kitchen, glowing and bubbling with good news.

"Riley!"

"Yes?" you ask, surprised. She is usually more composed.

"Did you see?"

"See what?" You keep making sandwiches as she rushes to you, almost knocking over Bee, who is cooking lunch for everyone else.

"Sheva," she says, glowing.

You saw that name on the Team Pink roster.

"Do you know her?" you ask.

"Yes! She is my best friend!"

Oh. You... uh... this reminds you that you know very little about Viti's life. She's a good goal keeper. She is super cute. She doesn't last long in bed. What else do you know? Not much...

"That's great," you say. "Is she a good player?"

"She's the best!"

You and the girls head out for your picnic, and the topic of conversation shifts to soccer. The east-Asian players are all worried about this player named Chun on one of the other teams, Sun and Aki in particular, but Viti has heard of her too. Lara, meanwhile, is more worried about having to go up against Adella with Beth and Duni backing her up. They are all valid concerns, but you feel like your team has a lot of strengths too.

You Google some of the players who will be joining your team to learn a bit about them.

Sam, from the UK, is good, but not a star.

Elena, from Kenya, is completely unknown. No stats.

Rebecca, from the USA, doesn't seem to have played since high school...

Sheva... does appear to be extremely good. Apparently she is from Senegal.

Lili, from Monaco, has fair stats.

Max, from the USA... you have actually met her before and know a little about her. She is complicated.

The five of you consider these other girls, your teammates starting tomorrow. It looks to you like defense is your weakness. Viti is very good, and maybe this Sheva is too, but the others... you are not so sure about. As for the girls you have right here, they are pretty good. Aki has extremely sophisticated skills, but is not as aggressive as you and Lara. Sun is similar: she has better skills than Beth and Duni, but she is not as fast and does not have their endurance.

Other teams will have weaknesses too, but Adella's seems especially stacked with good players.

The picnic went well. Now it's time for dinner, and you want some time alone with Viti.

Unfortunately, at dinner she won't stop chattering about Sheva and how safe she will feel with Sheva as a defender, how cool Sheva is, and how lucky you are to have her on your team... You wonder if there are any players you know who would talk this way about you.

You really want to talk to Viti a little bit about herself. And yourself. And maybe... about the two of you. After all, your relationship status is... unknown.

But Viti isn't stopping. Should you change the subject? Or just listen?
