Better just call Max.

After leaving the drop site with the money you decide it best to check in with Max and take the money home. On your way to where you suddenly know is your apartment you call Max. “Hey Max. I got out ok, to an extent. But I lost all my gear, hell I don’t really have anything I did before. I need a ride home, I am downtown.”

“Who the fuck? Lynx is that you? You sound different? Hey no offence but you are fucked, I don’t know what exactly you did but some German dude by the name of Sebastian has put out a sizeable reward on your ass. You had better get the fuck out of town, or at least lie low for a while. Just a second, I just got a message with your name on it.” There are a few moments of silence before he comes back on, “Well, your employer seems to be satisfied with your work, I just got my finders fee. He also says he offered you another contract. You aren’t thinking of taking it are you?”

“Well, Fuck, here take a look at this picture.” You quickly snap a photo of yourself and send it to him.

“Ok, who is she? Another elf slut you pissed off?”

“No Max, that is me.”

“No fucking way. Really? I guess that explains why you sound like a chick.” Then he gives you one of those gasps of realization, “Oh I see, a disguise. Damn who did the surgery? That is some good work, full body restructuring, wow I take it you already spent the $100k you just earned.” You hear clacking and a couple of hmm’s before he comes back, “Well I sent out your picture to see if it got any reaction, and nothing stuck. Apparently that will work, I guess I could set you up with a new place to live, documents, and the works for $22k.”

“Sounds fine, any good ideas for a new handle for now?”

“Actually yeah, I had a girl no one ever met named Vixen that was supposed to start working for me that had a change of heart. It will be a perfect cover for you, she did a couple of quick jobs that were real low profile and no one has seen her face, all I have to do is let people see you and let them know you work for me and they will make the assumption themselves, you won’t even really have to sell it.”

“Sounds perfect. Now I just need some gear, everything I had was stolen. Then after a bit of rest I should be good for the next meet tonight.”

“No problem I have a car coming to pick you up now and take you home. Then as soon as I can I will have someone bring over some things you might be interested in.”

“Thanks Max.” He ends the call and you wait nervously for the next fifteen minutes before your ride picks you up. A black sporty sedan with a heavily cybernetic driver pulls up and the door opens without a word. You are taken in silence across town, back into the beginning of the combat zone where it isn’t exactly a good area of town, but not quite as bad as you were in before. The car finally stops in front of an apartment building and the driver points at the glove compartment. You reach in and find a key on a ring marked 1525. Heading up you are pleased that the place doesn’t smell, and once you get inside you even see it has pretty decent furniture, if a bit sparse. You stick the money in the freezer, strip down to your thong, and take the gun with you into the bedroom and are asleep in just a few seconds after your head hit’s the fluffy pillow on the big comfy bed covered in black silk sheets.
